Description I'd been planning to do gift art for for a while, but after she took it upon herself to donate to us and go way out of her way to spread the word about the financial situation my wife and I are in, I couldn't put it off a moment longer. She and her brother are a couple of the nicest users I've had the pleasure of interacting with, so I really hope this little animation makes her week better. ♥

I'm JUST FINALLY getting to my massive inbox stack

This is amazing and I know Sarah was thrilled about it when you made it and still is! I love her floppy feet and those tail movements! Excellent work!

OH MY GRACIOUS CATS IN HEAVEN.

THIS.

THIS IS AMAZING.

i was NOT expecting ANYTHING like this, holy smokes! this is just, wow, i don't even know what to say. i can't stop looking! i love how her ears sort of flop as she's running and how smooth the tail movements are, the way her neckerchief bounces, EVERYTHING! you got her design down perfectly, too! she looks SO CUTE. i just want to share this with everyone and i am GOING to!

seriously, there aren't even words to express how in love i am with everything about this! i know animating can be tedious work, and i've never even gotten to the inking/colouring stage before (i have no patience!!), so this is just so amazing to me! i've been watching it for probably ten minutes now, just hypnotised by it hahah. you brought her to life and you did such a perfect job!

thank you thank you THANK you so much! i didn't do anything to deserve such a wonderful gift! i wasn't expecting it at all, but oh goodness do i love it. and pff, forget about making my week better. you just made my whole YEAR better!

thank you so much again i don't even know what else to say. i'm really glad you're feeling better and i was happy to help out OKAY i have to click the add comment button now so i can resume watching dumberry run for the rest of my life AHHH (THANK YOU!)

Oh goodness they're gonna have to take me back to the hospital if they ever hope to get rid of the goofy grin that's permanently plastered on my face after reading a such a happy response! Seeing how much you love it just makes me wish I had time to animate a million Dumberries doing a million different things. XD In fact, I will aim to do something else once I have all my thank-you art and commissions wrapped up, if I can!

I rarely get to the inking/colouring stage either, but that ref sheet Jim made was certainly a big help and inspiration in animating her. The style you two draw in is already perfectly suited to classical animation, so it was a pretty natural translation from ref sheet to keyframes. ♥

I'm just super stoked that you like it so much! My wife also has something Dumberry-related in the works, since both of us like the character a lot, so you can look forward to that as well! x]

For the time being, just try not to let the endless loop make you too dizzy! xD

Haha, I'm just happy to see our efforts make your life in any way better! That's the most powerful effect of art, to me. It's like a strong psychoactive happiness drug minus the side effects. 8D

Be sure not to miss the art of Whim I posted for Jim, seeing as you're such a fan of his comic. x] ♥

You could no doubt kick my butt at a run cycle like this since my draftsmanship and patience for inbetweening are both cruddy, so I'm glad you don't hate it. XD ♥ No worries, things are getting better one step at a time! Gonna post up a journal update for everyone soon.

Pfft I am awful with walk cycles, need a lot of practice on them. XD I think this looks great for a quick gift art. I'm glad things are getting better, I saw the journal and I hope you make it to your $500 goal soon!

They're one of the biggest headaches of animation, for me. xD I remember lots of 3D scenes where the acting would call for the character to take a few steps and I'd inwardly be fighting it the whole time. 'Hnng, why can't they just do it all right there? Why do I have to figure out a whole walk cycle just for half a second of screen time? Rawrawrawrawr. DX'
Thanks for the good will! ♥ We'll get there yet.

Yeah they're a pain, definitely. I dread having to have the character walk into a scene, I'm the same way, it's like an they just start the shot with him STANDING there? XDD

XD Well I'm looking forward to seeing more pencil test stuff from you when you manage to get it posted, based on the journal I read earlier! I'd also like to participate in your contest if I get a chance, but who knows what the month-to-month survival game will deal me free-time-wise.

Aw thanks! I'm hoping to get time to work out some kinks in the last one before I share it. And thank you, I'd be thrilled to see what you come up with if you find time! I just hope you are feeling loads better though soon, you need a break.

I think Owltober is the most I've uploaded to DA, well, EVER. So even though I'm feeling better health-wise, I'll definitely be thankful when I reach the end of this owl-a-day commitment and can rest for a bit, fun as it is! xD At the same time, I'm enjoying the new artistic momentum, so I'll aim to find a good balance.

I didn't love figuring out a cycle for it that didn't make me feel like a failure of an animator. xD Nah, it was fun. ♥
