I wonder about that too, there's a story called "The Lazy Uchiha" on fanfiction.net, it's a story about what would have probably happened if Itachi didn't kill the clan and he was still in Konoha, read it, it's fabulous! Search the title above (without the quotation marks) on fanfiction.net and you should see it, it's really funny, but it has sweet Itachi ans Sasuke brotherly moments too.
