Aurelius Stud:I wanted to experiment with foreshortening the feathers in Aureliusβ wings; this is what I came up with. A good pic of Aurelius standing proud; I felt it was time to update his quad form.

Unicorns used to be my top specialty. I really fell away from it several years ago when I started to devote more time to exploring modern art than character design. It's always refreshing to see others who have unicorn characters. It's especially refreshing to see a man with a unicorn character, since there seem to be an inordinate number of female unicorn fans. I think it's also refreshing to see a unicorn character that honors a warrior spirit. To Hades with modern pop culture's common interpretation of unicorns as spiritless, silly, frivolous, childish, girly, and weak! It's a travesty!
I would love to try my hands at drawing Aurelius in quad form someday. He has a very bold and recognizable design that I think would be a lot of fun to work with. I may have fallen away from my original specialty, but I hope to find it again soon.

One think I love about drawing characters is that you can get away with a lot more imperfections. The best art you make isn't what you perfectly draw but what you create on spur of the moment.
Of course I think unicorns are cool. Who ever thought they were childish is a fool - their legends and popularity don't survive merely on child wonder. Also, I don't write to children, I wouldn't let my niece or nephews read my work (too much action and sexual content for -12)
I'm glad you saw Aurelius as the honorable warrior. I named him after Cesar Marcus Aurelius who said "If it is wrong, don't do it. If it is a lie, don't say it". He is an moral creature, not just honorable. He does what is right by principle, not what is convenient.
