I actually drew this a few days ago, but honestly there've been a handful of times where I posted something one or more days after I made it. I have two other reference sheets for OCs that I'm not posting until my CheetaHeart ref dumps are done, because it's of another old story I had. Rather finish that first than to start something new and wait longer for the first thing to be done.

Unlike other things though, the reason for being late to post this is because this is new for me. I haven't drawn any characters from 'Hey Arnold!' before until now, and this is dipping my toes into new water. The most I can say about that now, is that's pretty much what happens when you draw mainly one thing for too long (Warrior Cats in my case). And because of that, I'm so used to interacting with Warriors fans more than I am anything else. So it's like, how is this gonna be?

But I'm complaining for nothing probably. I mean it's not like I haven't drawn anything other than Warriors or OCs. Still, I don't draw those other things nearly as much as I do the main things I draw, and so doing something else is still like riding a bike without training wheels for the first time.

So I'm still drawing the main stuff (as in what I normally draw). . . I just like doing other stuff too sometimes.

Like I said before, this is fanart for a show called 'Hey Arnold!', and for those unaware of it, it was a Nickelodeon show in the 90's (which makes me feel weird knowing I'm into a show my parents watched as kids, and likely didn't care very much about other than 'Oh, it's a show I saw when I was younger'). And this character here (Arnold) sometimes listens to music with his headphones on. As a music lover (Why do ya think my tagline says " Still a musical dumbass"?), I of course wanted to draw him doing something I personally relate to. In fact, basically the whole time I was drawing this and the day after, I was skimming through my liked songs on Spotify and listening to my favorites with headphones on. He's supposed to be holding a phone, but I don't think I've drawn one, or at least not in a while.

I tried to go off of the show's style since I can't imagine any of the characters looking any other way. But of course, I draw differently than the show animators did and some things I do for my art bled into here too. I have seen The Jungle Movie, and I am aware he wears new clothes in it, but I watched the show not too long ago, and that was just one movie. I'm more used to this than I am his TJM look. And you can have your own opinion, but me personally, I like this look better.

Honestly, I'm tied between him and Helga being my favorite characters. At this point they both are, and it's for completely different reasons. (People who haven't seen the show, you're just gonna have to bare with me ok) For Arnold, it's because he reminds me of my old best friend, who was basically the voice of reason in our friend group at the time. Funny thing is I was doing a good job at moving on until I watched the full show and this little shit kept making me think of my old friend again. Guess some things can't be pushed away so easily.
But eh, it is what it is. In a way, it means I have another way to keep them in my memory, and in situations like this it does make me feel a little close to the character in question. So you know what, it's fine.

But yeah, enough rambling from me. There you go, aaaand I hope today/tonight treats you all well.
