Mouse girl finds antique Kalanova '64 rifle in post-apocalypetype world. i'll post the original drawing and comment more on story then...
Okay, this one took forever to colour. The drawing was from ten or more years ago. The colour was bit by bit, set it aside for a few months, add or change a bit...It's been done for a month or so, but i still wasn't sure if something else wouldn't jump at me that called out to be changed...
If your monitor isn't balanced the darks and lights on this won't read well. Or try down loading it and using the slide-show setting to get rid of bright white areas on the screen...i'll post a low-contrast version of this soon...

Posted a bit in a reply to another comment on this pic...Her village or town was attacked, she was traumatized, been living in the woods for four years with no tools or social contacts...
The old rifle she just found belonged to someone with a lot of followers and a lot of enemies and it's going to stir up a storm of mistaken tales once she's seen with it ...

Sometimes i'll do a drawing or two of a character and their story will unfold, all they've been through, what they're going through, their hopes, etc.
This one has been a bit reticent.
She's been surviving in the woods for a few years, by herself, with no tools or weapons. Her village or town was attacked, murdered or enslaved, she won't tell me, she's just been surviving.
This rifle she's just found...maybe she could trade it for a knife and a tent? If it works...maybe for a whole kit...
But whose's rifle was this?
Maybe some people will recognize
it, think she is the heir or linked to enemies...
The original ink drawing had a thought balloon:
"No...A Kalanova '64!
...I must be dreaming...
ah...No way will it work...
or even be repairable...
It's been lying here for years!
But...if it's O.K....IF...
Then it's worth a fortune!!!"
i don't know if she'll tell me more of her story...sometimes you just a glimpse into someone's life and you're left wondering about the rest...

There's a near-by creek i like to walk along - The trail meanders between the meadow and down into the old trees and the ravine where the ferns border the winding water.
When you duck in under the pine branches you go from the meadow sunshine to deep shadow. Near sunset the dark to light is pretty extreme.
