I can speak for the U.S. on this one. It's just like that here. The signs, and deer running into the highway. In fact, there's a minor expression about a deer in the road that a few people use here.
Deer are famous for darting right into the highway and getting hit by vehicles. I once saw a dead deer being removed from the road by animal control personnel. And it seems that often what happens, is they dart into the road and hear the vehicle, and when they see it they get frozen with fear. Key word frozen. They stand there and look at you until you hit them or stop. In fact, I've been told that's how people in the south hunt deer sometimes. They're driving through the woods in a pickup, and if they see a deer they want while they're on their way to wherever they're going the speed up to ensure a kill! Then they load it into the back of their pickup and keep going. I've had people in the south telling me stories about that, and I've overheard people relating stories their southern relatives told them- or put them through! Deer make very good eating I've been told. Very good, but the meat can be hard to find and hard to get unless you either pay a lot at a weird store or hunt it yourself.

What else were the deer doing? What food did they want? I'd guess salads and potato chips, but probably not Nachos or Doritos. Sandwiches?
Did the deer wait for the traffic signal? Or did they just wait for the people to cross? Or did they just actually LOOK into the street for cars before crossing? I'd like to know what else they were doing, because deer don't do that around here at all, and people wouldn't like animals that size walking around in the city.

Oh man, they'd eat anything O_o They were literally pushing their noses into our bags XDDD I offered one a bit of the seaweed from my riceball and it ate that happily. Later on, my friend dropped a cup of shaved ice and it actually ate that, too! It gave it a red stain over it's mouth, making it look vicious.. Hehe.
I think they just crossed with the people. Because it was a tourist-y area, there wasn't much traffic.

I looked in your gallery for the photo evidence, but all I saw was petting the vicious deer and a deer ate a rail pass and a map.

Holy carp! That deer is right there!!!!! How did you keep it out of your noodles?!
The only way you could get that close to a U.S. deer is if it was dead! Or if you were Usain Bolt and could run one down!
"There's a deer in my photo" XD. Yeah, I see that one in the background there. I also see something from Naruto, and 2 T-shirts that seem to be about not throwing away too much trash?

One of the shirts says "Trash" right on it! Or, at least I think it does... Then there's one with a bottle on it, but I think that's a wine bottle depicted.
Did the Japanese tell you that blowing on the deer's faces works, or did you just try it?

One of the deer on an island we went to stole my friends' shaved ice XDDDD She left it on the bench. It picked up the cup with it's teeth and finished it off.. I have photographic evidence!
