Castle is a tv show about a cop and a mystery writer who tags along on the cases, i watch it and my family got the three seasons on dvd. my dad doesn't like anime style tv or movies, so no howls moving castle.
don't move in with people who you don't get along with, my friend got a room with some girls from her team in davis and she doesn't even live in her room anymore, her roommates are so annoying. she's paying 400 a month for a room she doesn't sleep in because she can't get out of her lease

I think I could get along with her, but I'm not sure. There were occasional signs of OCD-ish behavior, and I don't really know her well. I think it might get wearing after a while, and I don't always care for how she treats her daughter. Meh. Well, nothing's decided yet, so I have time to figure it out.
Has your friend looked into a sub-let? Renting out the room for a bit more than what she's already paying for it so at least she isn't paying the rent?

she is sharing a room with a roommate, so i'm not sure exactly how it'd work.
ocd-ish is okay, i mean, i'm ocd, but it doesn't manifest in a way that's noticeable (most of the time). i agree that living with a parent can be annoying, i mean, i don't agree with the way most people raise their kids, and it's harder with younger kids.

Case in point for this parent is that she went off to Mexico with her boyfriend (on the day of her daughter's birthday), and left her kid with a nearly total stranger (me; although I come with excellent references), and always seems to be talking negatively about her kid (right in front of her!) in a sort of sadly/not-much-to-be-done-about-this-problem kind of way. Little to no praise, never spends much time with her, and so forth. 
Not much? Clothes shopping. Book hunting (Gift card!!) Drawing. ^^

she sounds like a rotten parent! my parents never left me with anyone that wasn't a longtime friend or family. sounds like it annoys you, too. kids like that need all the help they can get from others.
i've been riding a lot lately, Shadow and i got a couple of lessons last week from Lorraine, and we'll do some jumping tomorrow. i'm also helping Lorraine train a 2.5 year old filly. we saddled her up for the first time today and it went well, no bucking when i got on and asked her to trot.

her name is Chloe and she's an Andalusian. she's maybe 15.1 and i'm riding her because her knees are still mushy and i don't weigh very much, so we can get her started now, which is what her owners want. i'll get a picture of her tomorrow when i go ride. she's from a mexican ranch in san diego and is a mexican andulusian, she looks like a barb or arab more then the spanish andulusians do. apparently she'll be bigger then shadow when she's grown, her trot is already way smoother.
