Love the white background against this image. I don't think black would have done it justice. Very nice!

Black didn't show up the fine grey feathery bits...I tried it, believe me.
Glad you like it.

It the expression in image form of a really complex chunk of geometry! Also known as a fractal, and it's abstract, so it's just supposed to look cool, not like any figurative subject.

That deep red is so striking against the orange and white. Beautifully detailed pattern.

Although I never liked maths I have to say that this is absolutely beautiful!
Well done

I don't really know shit about the math behind this. The fractal flame generator/manipulator program that I use has an interface that lets me mess with icons that represent the math in a nearly 3D enviroment.
I don't like math either....
But I'm certainly glad you like it.

Ooo, 'tis cool.
I'm trying to figure out Apophysis, too, but I really need to go read some tutorials... lol... I'm rather lazy!!!

Have you checked out *Apophysis ? They're the resident apophysis group here, and they have a pretty good list of tut links.

LadyBlacksword In reply to krittermaker [2007-05-07 18:51:22 +0000 UTC]

This was about an hour of messing with it till I got what I wanted. Then about 4 hrs to render it.

Thank you. White backgrounds are woefully underused by most fractal artists.

Very nice - as you've mentioned the gradient really makes this pop. When these "work" agianst the white backgrounds they seem to actually float in the sapce of the frame. Cool

MrEvilFX [2007-02-15 01:17:58 +0000 UTC]

Great fractal. I haven't found anything I've rendered that would look good on anything but a black background. This is one of the better ones I've seen on a non-black background.

LadyBlacksword In reply to MrEvilFX [2007-02-15 07:24:26 +0000 UTC]

It's all about gradient. And about hitting the "quality" setting up to 100.

Thanks!
I truly believe there should be classes in selecting gradient, as it's one of the more important things people have trouble with in fractal art.
And you should have seen my face when I punched it to 100 quality at the last, and all those grey feathery things showed up!

onebadpenny In reply to LadyBlacksword [2007-02-17 17:24:25 +0000 UTC]

ha! i used to tell everyone that... "gradient is all"
not everyone get's it's importance..
oh well, it's saved my ass quite a few times
