It's been a while since I've drawn this guy. I wanted to see how he'd look in my style now, and I think he looks pretty good.This originally didn't start off as a serious drawing, but just a doodle. Of course seeing as how I'm a perfectionist, I had to go the extra step. XD
Anyway, I think this guy has to be one of my favorite FE lords. No question; I just like him. I think it's because he's like Roy but older looking. *shrug*

Thank you! And I agree, lol. After reading his supports, I'm starting to like him even more as a character. Seriously, these supports lead me to believe that he is not as poorly written as many fans say he is. Sure, usually he's not as good as Hector, but I don't think stats should determine the quality of the character. :U
It's weird how people like Lyn more than him, despite being irrelevant mid way through the game and also having mediocre stats. Maybe it has to do with the fact that she's a myrmidon girl (technically) or because she's in Smash Bros, lol. I mean, I like the FE7 trio a lot, but I can't help but to see that there is a ton of bias within these three characters. Eh, it's human nature to be biased, I suppose.Β

I never got hung up over stats myself, my crutch-character (Marcus) was still relevant in the epilogue so it's not like stats were stellar for anyone else in my playthroughs... I think it's a combination of personality changes via translation, mediocre stats and general crowd psychology, in my opinion at least. The love for Lyn possibly comes from the simple fact she's an out and out Action Girl in medieval fantasy land who doesn't need a prince to dash in and save her. Hector gets the attention because he's loud, I always assumed. I love the trio a lot but likewise there's so much bias. ;o;

Eliwood deserves more art! I never understood why so many people dislike him, he's a sweetheart. I'm glad you gave him some love, your drawing looks fantastic ^^

Haha, thank you! I think it has to do with his stats. Many people in the FE fanbase tend to dislike characters with mediocre stats, especially if they're lords. With regular units, you could just bench them if you have no other use for them. However with lords, you have no other choice.
Also, at least in the US version Eliwood is depicted as your typical RPG hero. Noble, just, brave and gets all the ladies for some reason. Many people find him a bland character because of this. It's funny because in the Japanese version, he is said to be shy and kind of awkward (that's so adorable nfdccbvx). I think the reason why they changed his personality in the English version, is because us westerners prefer our male characters to be more confident. It seems like IS was trying to get FE7 to sell as much as possible in America at the time, I mean FE7 was the first FE game to come to America after all.
Last but not least, he's Roy's father. People don't like Roy, so anything related to Roy they don't like either. :U Pretty petty reasons for not liking a character, but all of these reasons are legit as far as I'm concerned. I lurk on many FE fansites so that's how I know about some of this stuff.
Personally, IDC about a characters stats, personality etc. very much when it comes to FE. It's usually design first, then personality and stats later.
Anywaaay I agree. I think he's an underrated character and all the hate he gets is undeserved. Oh well... Haters gonna hate I guess. XD

A lot of fans obssess over stats, unfortunately. Maybe I've just been lucky, but I never had much trouble with Eliwood, he's always been a good unit for me.Β
Yeah I've heard about how his personnality was changed (Marth's too, for the same reason). Despite of that I feel like the true Eliwood still shows through ^^ He is obviously more calm and reserved than Hector, so even though the Western version of him has more confidence, there's still a part of the true Eliwood there

I'm pretty much the same ^^ As crazy as that sounds, even though they're fiction I see them as persons, so design and personnality first for me too.

Awesome! One of my favorite FE games to date, And definitely one of my favorite FE lords! Eliwood, Hector, and Lyn are all super badass! Did you play through the whole game? It's such a good one My personal favorite character from FE7 has got to be Nino~

No, I haven't. I don't play much FE because I'm not the best at strategy RPGs. I mostly like FE for the characters and what not, haha. I should try my hands on FE7 for laughs sometime.
My favorite FE7 character is Eliwood, no shock. Uhh I think as for non-lord characters, I like Florina. XD

Hahaha, I get that. Honestly, FE7 isn't that hard, in comparison to other games in the series/genre. It wouldn't be a bad idea to play through it before you tried tackling other games in the series. It can be tough to get into, but once you get the hang of it, it's easy! Especially if you use save states and grind out levels in the Arena.
I would recommend it! FE7 has some really great characters! Nino is one of the last characters you can get, and she's a super cute mage character. She starts out as a really low level character with bad base stats, but she gains a LOT of points every level up. Here's an image of what she looks like. I started off with FE8, supposedly the easiest game in the series. Still haven't beaten it, lol. I'll take your advice though haha.
I know about Nino. I've been into FE since... 2011? I know all the characters and what they do. I just don't know how to play the game.

I forgot about FE8. I haven't played it yet, myself. But yeah, that's also a good game to play. I've heard it is pretty easy, not to mention it's got a world map, so everything is a bit easier to manage.
Yeah, I stalked some of your reddit posts and learned that about you. I just assumed you didn't know her because you hadn't beaten the game yet, haha. I guess I shouldn't have! But still, it gave me a reason to talk about Nino, so we're all good!

Yesss I love trios where there's like two guys and one girl. They often make the best trios, lol. Yeah I have feels about Eliwood in general; they're not as strong as they were back then, but ughhhh sometimes fangirling strikes back at the weirdest times.
