You're quite welcome.
Sol is actually the name used for the sun, like Luna is for moon.
Considering that the sun is represented as a male, it seemed right.

Lol, not really. I just have a deep love of celestial bodies and mythologies surrounding them.
Most of our neighboring celestial bodies are named from characters in Roman, Greek mythology along with Shakespearean characters.
Also, by watching Sailor Moon you learn a few things involving character names being derived from jewels or planets. I mean if you wanna really tie things together take Sailor Jupiter for example. Her English name is Lita, and in the Greek myth, a princess named Leda was bathing in a stream when Zeus saw her and came to her in the form of a swan and she gave birth to Helen of Troy and the twins Castor and Pollox (who become the Zodiac Gemini). Zeus is also known as Jupiter. Oak is Zeus's tree, and she later on has an attack called Jupiter Oak Evolution. Lita is also a Sagittarius and thus her ruling planet is Jupiter which makes sense for her to be the champion of the planet.
(As I am a Sagittarius so I have a deeper connection with her than the other scouts.)

All of Queen Beryl's generals (and herself) are named after stones.
And obviously the members of Prince Diamond's family.
The original writer of the manga actually was interested in geology and studied minerals so she knew the certain traits and histories of the stones when using them in naming characters.
*Takes you by the hand and drags you off to the library.......
"Welcome, my dear."

This is why it helps to do serious research when creating a whole mythos set in a modern day and real place.
You can't just pick names willy-nilly and not expect to pay homage to the myths that inspired it. Although Sailor Scouts Pluto and Saturn should be switched in what they represent. You see, Pluto is the God of the Underworld, and therefore Death, while Saturn is the Time Bearer, the scythe a representation of the harvest.
But in the show it is Pluto who is guarding the gates of time and Saturn who wields the power of death.

hmm...now that i think about it, my friend said the same thing some time ago. O_o i never knew what he was talking about when he kept griping that pluto shouldn't be pluto, but as i watched dr. tomoe talk about her being the "sovereign of silence", it made a lot of sense to me then.

But it's still passable because they are at least still representing their planet.
