Then there is the Mars of DC's Manhunter (continuity all messed up), the Mars of WAR OF THE WORLDS, the Mars of C.S.Lewis' OUT OF THE SILENT PLANET, the cloud creatures of LAST AND FIRST MEN (Olaf Stapledon), and heavens knows what other contradictory sci-fi have on Mars.

Sweet art work! I like how you solve the problem of clothing the martians privates - they just don't have genitals! Voila! great stuff!

Great drawing, it's too bad you didn't have room for Deja. Otherwise, it's going in my Favorites. It looks like a panel from Gold Key or Classics Illustrated Comics ( Neither of which is around, & I'm showing my age. ).

Though I think you're right adding Dejah to the picture would make it really pop, this is still a great bit of work.

I just love the penmanship -- like Franklin Booth extensive meticulous hatching! Must be a real treat in black and white..?
And truth to say, quite 'retro-looking' which puts the whole thing in the right perspective, since Barsoom stories aren't modern take on Sci-Fi but rather the old school of storytelling and fantasy.
Wonderful!

What I love about this piece is that you get John Carter off of the ground. He's supposed to be jumping around all the time and everyone always shows his feet planter firmly on Barsoom firma. Awesome image!

Bah. You exaggerate.
But it's good, ego-massaging exaggeration, so heap it on!
