Getting my mojo back!Okay! So I'm still working on Samsara's design and I think I like this one! For those who don't know, the ancient Aurorans (the parallels to the ancient Echidna tribe in Sonic, also heavily inspired by Atlantis) left behind several ruined machines behind. One in particular is known as Samsara, a small mech designed to withstand extreme temperatures, extreme water pressure, and the ability to not only work as a walking battle tank, but to also dig through ice. The machine can be opperated from the inside, but has a mind of it's own, though unable to speak. Why would the Aurorans need a mech like this?
Samsara, meaning "continuous flow", is the repeating cycle of birth, life, death and rebirth (reincarnation) within religions such as Hinduism and Buddhism. This hulking piece of junk got the nickname for being dead for centuries under the sea, pulled out and reactivated, dies again in battle, and then reactivated once more by the gearhead you all know and love, Ember Grizzly. Samsara, nicknamed "Rust" or "Sam" is a spiritual parallel to E-123 Omega.
And yes. I am aware that it looks like its from Gurren Lagann. The design was inspired by the Gunmen from the Anime.

Wow love the art style of this. What really catches my attention is the mech cause i love things like that for characters and the design is original and creative. Good job and i wanted to know if i could try and design my own mech. I dont want you to think im stealin your ideas or anything

Ember: *gets back in and closes hatch* BOOM!!! *Rust is blown back several hundred feet and slams into the side of a building, landing on it's back* *Ember peeks out* "That was a close one! You okay there Rusty ol' buddy?"
Rust: *lets out a ominous metallic hum of unsatisfactory*
Ember: *pats* "Ah, you'll be fine, you big baby."

Glad you like him! I'm actually REALLY proud of how his design turned out XD I'm just working on his personality. Yes... he has a very small personality. Little known fact, I love wolves, dragons, and robots XD I have countless drawings of robots, and next to Lance and friends, robots are my favorite things to draw. So I had a lot of practice.

You should be<3 He’s beautifuls! I can tell from that little rp bit you posted that Rusty has a bit of a personality<3 Little known fact 2- I also love wolves, dragons, and robots. XD I have never been able to successfully draw a robot though! I’m not good with details like you, you gorgeous person you. But one of my favorite games ever is Zone of the Enders, I’ve been a transformers nerd since I could walk, and their used to be this show on TV about fighting robots that I watched as a kid (I can’t remember the name though). So mechs are like a guilty pleasure I can’t ever fully enjoy because I cannot DRAW THEM! *flips table*
I would love that. XD I have basic ideas down, just can’t ever get her/it on paper.

I have no idea since youtube isn’t working for me right now. XD Gundam looks the most familiar out of the three but I seriously still have no clue. D’: It’s kinda embarrassing, but other then the giant robots, the thing I remember most about it is that the main character had a scene where he put on this form fitting black suit before he operated the robot.
I have them written down. XD I’m sorry Lance, but all my attempts at drawing her look like something a 3-year old might do. ;w; So a description will have to do-
Defected is actually a character I made on impulse after watching Wall-E, and she’s the only one who has had any kind of interaction with the cannon characters. XD ‘She’ (her voice recordings and original body structure are/were distinctively female) was made by Eggman and tossed into his scrap heap after a fight with Sonic the hedgehog left her ruined. After that she basically restarts, loosing all her memories. While in the junk yard, she managed to scavenge spare parts and now looks like some horrible blend of different robots. XD While she was in Eggman’s trash, she started to develop ‘feelings’ and began fixing other trashed robots who all become her ‘fallowers’. She grew especially close to this ruined shadow android named Prototype (You might even say she loved him.), but after escaping Eggman’s trash heap with the other robots, Prototype is completely destroyed by Mobian Militia and Defected is forced to flea underground. As you can imagine, she’s pretty ticked off about it, and despises Mobians and Humans alike for what they did to her. She’s basically turned the hole she lives in into a lab, where she fixes robots and creates more. (and avidly studies captured mobian/human specimens.).
BUT Defected herself appears very battered and broken. Like I said she’s made entirely from the broken parts of other robots. So she’ll be missing stuff, and what she’s not missing will be rusty/broken. Her most notable feature though is that her entire right hand is gone and is often replaced with different tools. The one I pictured her with most though is a drill or an old circular saw.
She’s a Next-Gen Villain too. :3
I’ve heard that technique is popular with mech designers. I’ve heard It works pretty good for armor designs too<3

YES. It was Gundam. "Mobile Suit Gundam". The one you're thinking of in particular is "Mobile Fighter G Gundam" (G Gundam for short) I know your YouTube isn't working, but I'll throw it here anyways: [link]
It played on Toonami every night for awhile followed by "Gundam Wing" and later "Gundam SEED"
None of the TV series are derectlry connected to each other, each one was a completely different story, and I remember "G Gundam" being my second favorite after "Gundam Wing" <333
I totally had forgotten about it until you mentioned it! I searched Wiki's and YouTube like a mad man to make sure it was Gundam XDD
NOW TO THE DESIGN. It's Mobian-esque I assume? I could look around for pictures of various Egg-man robots and throw them together as well as give her a core rusted look of what she might have looked liked before using other parts. I'm totally picturing somewhat of a Gizoid look (Emeral and Gemral)
It's the technique I use XD Very useful for armor,robots, and for me weaponry (fire arms to be exact) Before I started really getting into drawing mobians, I was really into sci-fi robotics and weapons, so it use to be all I drew <3

(But then again, this was from someone who was 3-5 at the time.) G Gundam and Dragon Ball Z, Transformers, Pokemon, and Gargoyles. That’s all I watched when I was just a wee lad!

Semi-mobian yes. She might be smaller in size, like the Gizoids. Body structure might have once been similar as well, though with facial features more similar to Metal Sonic since it gave her a little more ‘emotion’. But you can do what you wanna do<333 You’re the one drawing her, I want to have fun with her. XD
I tired it once or twice for designing armor and doing creature concepts, it did work well and was a lot of fun. No wonder your so good at guns and mechs though<33333

Yes, I like this design a lot better for Samsara. Its so much more ancient technological looking, which I like. Also it sort of reminds me of the Reaverbots from Megaman Legends, which I also find to be cool.

The Reaverbots were a perfect example of ancient robots in my opinion, because they were bizarre, full of mystery and hidden danger, and scared you when you meet a new one XD I always adored Megaman Legends (the first one being one of my favorite games of all time) and especially the underground ruins and their Reaverbot inhabitants.
For Samsara, I used the functionality and base design of the Gunmen from Gurren Lagann, and Rex from Metal Gear Solid, with the mysterious ancient look similar to the Reaverbots. It has a mind of it's own but does not speak, making him more like a Reaverbot when he operates on his own.

Wow, I like the Reaverbots too. They were an amazing enemy in the Megaman series. I loved how they actually looked ancient and such, due to their usually rusted-looking color scheme and the ridges on them that make them look a bit more skeletal-like, and more. And yes, many times they were quite scary, such as the Cloaking-enabled Sharukurusu ones in ML1 which would come from nowhere and charge at you, those Poh ones in ML2 that just sort of wander around until you attack them and then they unfold and turn agressive and attack you in mobs, and don't forget that nightmarish Wojigairon boss Reavebot in ML2, when he'd slam his face through the wall trying to get you, and he was impossible to defeat until you stop the lava flow. Yes, I even looked up their names too. Megaman Legends has to be one of the most awesome ones in the series, it's like Megaman meets some sort of futuristic Indiana Jones in a way. I just wish they hadn't cancelled ML3 though, it would've been awesome.
I'm not a fan of Gurren Lagann, but I have seen the robots in it, though I can't really see much similarity there. The Metal Gear Rex I can see though.
And that sounds cool on how Samsara is a piloted robot, but also has a mind of it's own. I wonder if at times in your series, Samsara would sort of override the manual control and surprise its pilot in the process in that it's suddenly operating itself.

Oh i was soooo angry when they cancelled it... I actually I'm all around pissed with Capcom for their recent games and useless sequels and dlc's. I was SO happy when they announced MML3 that I was actually going to buy a 3DS which I still have no desire to own.
They work as one in the story. Samsara will cooperate with Ember most of the time, but will not let Lance or Autumn operate it. If Ember is trying to make Samsara do something it REALLY doesn't wan't to do, Samsara will resist. But all in all, Ember and Samsara are very close to each other.

Gunmen are the obvious inspiration for it's design, of course it looks like them. Many of them have skeletal mouths. I don't doubt it looks like one in particular XD
