corset not completly historical due to the busk. BUT if you've ever put one of these things on then you can understand why i put it in.

Interesting .. I've never seen stays with a busk, but it really looks good, would be a great idea for some evening-wear stays ....

Funny, I can lace myself into stys with only back lacing as well .. not ver comfortable but if I have to, it works, even with hand-stitches eyelets

But to get back to your stays ... wonderful color choice as well, and I like the shape as well ...

It looks great! Shall I make you envious and say I can lace myself into a backlacing elizabethan corset? lol. I almost made it front lacing, but I'm glad I didn't, as I changed shape right after I made it (it still fits though)
I think the busk is a great idea, its just hard to get those here. I also love the blue. what is it boned with?

I boned it with cable ties, which you can find in the hardware store. they are plastic, but cheap you can get 40 for under $10, they aren't as rigid as steel, but are much much lighter. YOu can order busks online from grannd company, They are who i get most of my corsetting supplies though. And i am very envious of your mad lacing skills.

I've always wanted to use cable ties. My current one has dents made out of what you use for basket weaving, but If it got dirty I don't think I could wash it. I plan on sticking some cableties down the front of my woolen kirtle I'm making, only as I don't want to make as many hand bound eyelets as I should, lol.
I can't buy things online unfortunatly.
And my mad lacing skills are not that mad. The trick is to use a silk or synthetic lace (something slippery) and to lace the top kaly loose enough to slip over your head, then finish lacing it behind your bach (or loosley infront and spin it round). Then evenly pull on the top and bottom ends of the lace as far as possible. Tie off the top lace, then pull on each horrizontal bit you can reach from the top down, pull the bottom one tight and tie it off. Theres a video on you tube of a lady I know doing something similar if you're interested, but its a lot harder than having a busk (or getting my sister or dad or friend to lace me, which is what I usually do.)
But thanks for the info!

I agree, I am absolutely willing to sacrifice period accuracy in favor of a busk. This looks fantastic

Great shape and lovely colour .
I understand what you mean about the busk
If you're including it in your portfolio you need to explain why you've done it to prospective employees so they know you know how it should be and why you've done it the way you have.
