Description Near Cill Chriosd on the Isle Of Skye is a ruined village up on a hill. This ruined building and the low walls are all that remain. I believe the village may have been called Boreraig.Β

No. It can't be easy. There is a lot of whisky drunk in Scotland though

why was it abandoned? Well it may have been because it was associated with the old marble works that was in that area or I any have been to do with the highland clearances. I really don't know.Β

Ruins outside urban areas assume a whole new sense, a feeling not necessarily tied to the decay of the creations of humanity, but rather to the return of the natural order of matter. Scenes like this truly make one fathom how little time (or perhaps effect as well) one has in this world. Nevertheless, you have managed to capture the artificial structure as well as the nature well!

yes, nature is reclaiming these buildingsΒ

It's a lovely composition. I adore the warm tones. It has a very nice symbolism, that this tiny building of brick still stands strong like the mountain behind it. The landscape weathers and changes, too, just like our villages and buildings. I find something very hopeful in the image. The village is gone, but pieces still stand, which makes it unforgotten.

LawrenceCornellPhoto In reply to ScribalWriter [2016-02-12 21:04:50 +0000 UTC]

It has left its footprint which is more beautiful still as nature slowly reclaims the land.Β
The building stands proudly as the only structure Β left to remind us what was there.Β
The location seems very romantic now but living there must have had its own hardships.Β
Id try it though wouldn't you?Β

I have been looking and I think these buildings may have been associated with the marble works in the area. If so then I think we are looking at 19th century and maybe late 18th century.Β

Thank you
