Description This is at Port William in Dumfries & Galloway in South West Scotland from my recent trip. The week started off unremittingly grey and I was feeling a little despondent. I was trying to capture that feeling in this picture.Β

The greyness combined with a flat horizon and lack of a point of interest captures the feeling perfectly!

It's a lovely shot. I really like the little cloud that's more detailed than the overall cloudy sky

Thank you Kat yes it was good that it wasn't just completely grey. That would have been really gloomy

tinileen In reply to LawrenceCornellPhoto [2014-08-17 17:49:12 +0000 UTC]

True. It still might have looked good though. Actually it really looks like this small cloud is mocking all the others - that's what I like so much about it

A dark, sweeping moment-beauiful pic! Glad you cheered up, and I know how log fires are comforting. A few times we have put logs in the wood stove (has glass window so we can see the flames) in the summer, and left the air conditioning on so it wouldn't get too hot!! I know.....silly......!

I could sit in front of a log fire every day dear Cathie.
I can see exactly why you would do that

My grandparents used to have a caravan at Port William but they got rid of it and I never got the chance to take photos up there.
Love the atmosphere captured here!

Well this is the only time I have been there so I didn't see it at its best it is a shame you don't have access to caravans in these places now.
