After my Dad told me to try drawing something other than deer I decided to revert to horses. Not satisfied I drew a character from my Novel I am writing.She in a young Centaurian and here she is crying after escaping the carnage of her family where she watched them be killed and captured into slavery. She escaped, but sooner or later the shock gets to her and she collapses into tears.
I have always been strong that a centaurs colouring should not end where the horse and human part meet. They are not a cut and paste job, they are a creature with a blended body, that is why my centaurs colourings cover their entire body (Note the white fingers matching the white socks on hr legs). As well as this I am sure to have their mane continue down the entire of their backs.
Sheβs very pretty and donβt worry, she find someone to give her a well needed hung and help her save her family.

You know, I can image centaurs like these, I think they would be very beautiful, the normal kind seem ugly at times, human skin tones aren't always the best to keep, especially on a animal not human.
Maybe centaurs are more horse like but people tend to put human faces onto everything if you think about it, but a human-horse is rather odd.

That's a lovely name and I think it fits her (you have to love dapple greys).
Does these centaur have all the known horse colors?

At the moment my centaurs do have all the known horse colours, though technically the colours many horses have today are because of breeding while true wild horses (Przewalski's horse) are usually all one colour. I am tempted to change them all to the same. But because their social culture is a lot more advanced than animals there is a chance that they bred themselves to have different colours.
Her mother was a light dapple names Elzbeth and she was named after her because she look similar to her.

does her mother have a light mane and tail? A mustang on my Zoo game is a dapple grey (kind of dark like her) but has a blond mane and tail

They are hunter-gatherers, they have a distinct language but have no written one. They don't have houses but have basic tools like baskets for food and spear for hunting.
Her mother has a slightly lighter mane and tail, like many dapples with the dark base and the blonde ends.

so they are developed in a way for them, and that explains that one centaur with a spear. They are more like chimps which are quite developed but not to much.
So a blonde dapple is usual?

Many horses with a dapple coat have dark hair that fades to blonde, all dappled horses turn grey as they age

just like how some gray or white horses are born black but lighten, does this pattern work in these centaur? where one might be born a certain color but as it matures it changes?
How long do these ones live? I remember in a Narnia book the centaur said his kind were older than unicorns, but I'll take your opinion (I kind of would want to befriend one of these)

My Centaurs live for about 30 years, mares start having kids about 7 or 8. In my story a Elf boy is friends with a Centaur mare and he get very confused as to how quickly she matures. When he is 7 and wants to play and have fun she has an adults mind and wants to settle down with her own herd.

well that would be tricky (unless a adult mind settles with another), hopefully something comes from it...
I have another question though. In two books with centaurs in it, they mention how they read the sky and studied the stars and planets (in both books).
Does your centaurs follow the same practice?

Mine do have a few spiritual practices but astrology and study of the sky is never mentioned. Some herds may study the stars and planets but the herd I focus on does not.

This is breathe taking! I absolutly love it! It reminds me so much of my own centuar characters. In my story two brothers are captured and forced into slavery, while their sister (who could almost be thisone's twin) searches in vain for them. Two went into slavery adn only one came out.
But your picture shows more emotion than anything i have drawn for mine, you have truly mastered centuar. And I totally agree on all your centuar chracteristics. That's how I think all centaurs should look too.

Very nice work! I can't tell since she's covering her face, but if she has a horse-like head, she would technically be an equitaur. There are plenty of those around (I know, my character is one).
Great job with the coloring, as well as the emotional scene.

Well I was wondering if the centaur and the equiraur are the same creature, in my mind a centaur would have a horse like face and perhaps when they were seen/described some managed to remember the horse-like head while others though they were purely human features. Either that or the myth was mixed up along the way....
They seem to be too similar to be different creatures. Though my centaurs do not have horses heads, just their faces as slightly broader and a little less human.

I love the dark gray dappling/coloring on her and the continued pattern/color all over concept. Dapples are not easy to do with colored pencil. Take it from me and Willow421

This is FANTASTIC, man. To me it seems like her human and horse parts don't blend at all, because there is only one part to her: centaur. I'm glad she's all one color. There are centaurs with horse coats and them bare human skin and it appears...fake. This does not. This totally deserves a fave!
