It's funny how incredibly fast time passes when you're enjoying yourself and in company with good friends. The summer vacation didn't feel like it'd lasted for more than two weeks at max but now we had one week till the freedom had passed by and I would have to start my first year in college. I still didn't know why I chose Law, it was so stupid of me, what would I use it for? Nothing, exactly.
I don't know how this was possible since we were so many in the house but I'd ended up being home alone for probably the first time since Phil brought me here to live and I have to admit, I'd needed it, the time alone, that is.
Like always, I was just casually wasting my time on Tumblr and thus, when I was startled all of a sudden, by an unexpected knocking on the front door. Who the hell would come by now? I hadn't heard about any plans.
Charlie and Brylay were out (she'd leave in a few days so they wanted to get the best of their last days together), Chris, Carrie and Alex went out shopping or something while Peej had pulled Phil along to somewhere, he seemed troubled lately but I didn't know him that well so I'd decided to let Phil take care of him.
Another knock to the door pulled me back to reality and I jumped out of bed, stumbled down the stairs and reached the door, opening it just as a woman outside had raised her hand to knock.
"Oh hello" she smiled at me, looking at me in a kinda weird way.
I'd never seen her before but I instantly knew who she was, she looked so much like him that it couldn't be anyone but his mother, or family at least.
"I've never met you before, you're a new flatmate to the flock?" She asked with a chuckle.
"Ehm... Yeah, I-I'm Dan" I smiled awkwardly at the woman. He hadn't spoken about any visitors, maybe he didn't know that they were coming?
"Nice to meet you, Dan, I'm Mrs. Lester, Phil's mum" yup, I was right. Also, his family didn't know about us yet, great.
"Is Phillip at home?" She asked after a while of awkward silence, I shook my head no.
"He's out with Peej, but I figure they'll be home soon, you can come in and wait... If you want?" She smiled at me, gosh Phil looked like her, it was nearly creepy.
"Sure, thank you"
I stepped aside to let her in and she found her way to the kitchen easily, I was lucky that she was alone, imagine how awfully awkward it would be to meet his dad without him there, uh hu, that won't happen.
"Eh, you want a cuppa or something?" I asked her as she placed a purse on the breakfast bar.
"I'd love to, thank you Dan." She smiled at me as I went and prepared the tea.
"So when did you move in?" She asked casually, probably not even sensing my awkwardness, she weren't the one fucking her son so why would it be awkward for her...
It would also be pretty gross if she were fucking her own son, ew. No, don't picture it mind, you'll regret it.
"I've lived her for a month or so, I think, maybe a bit longer" I informed her quietly as the tea finished and I poured a cup before handing it to her.
"That's nice"
"Yeah..."
The awkward silence fell around us again and I really just wanted to flee somewhere, it didn't even matter where, just not with her right now. I was certain that she was a really nice and according to Phil, a really awesome woman, but this, this was just awkward out of my mind.
I was lucky for the second time as the sound of the front door opening suddenly erupted and PJ's muffled voice spoke something.
"I was really confused about the feelings too, Peej, but now I'm happier than ever before and so will you be, just speak to him instead of avoiding him." Phil's voice sounded from the hallway and I found myself wondering what they might've been talking about.
"I know... I'll try, thanks Phil" Peej answered.
"No problem"
I felt like I was listening to something that I wasn't supposed to hear, and that was probably also the consequence.
Apparently Peej had feelings for someone, but who? Chris? Who know, he had been avoiding him lately.
Phil's and PJ's food steps came closer and closer until they finally walked into the kitchen.
"Mum?! What're you doing here?" Phil asked, looking from his mom to me, startled. I shrugged, trying to explain to him that I knew nothing about it, that she'd shown up out of no where.
