Description I've been wanting to fold this model for a long time, but now I finally have accumulated enough experience with box pleating to do so.

Folded from a 19" by 19" uncut square of double tissue from crease pattern, and wet-finished. I photoshopped out the wire from which it was hanging.

The collapsing of the base was straight-forward, the shaping, however, was brutally hard. I still didn't get the face quite right.

Hey, I've been trying to solve this crease pattern with no luck. I was wondering if there's an easier way of doing the wings instead of doing each line... Any tips would be helpful. Thanks!

Mm, personally I just did each line. They are all 45 degree diagonals so it's not so bad.

There aren't any as far as I know, but you can look into box-pleating crease patterns to start.

Wow! It turned out quite nicely -- but didn't you start this with white paper initially?

Lexar- In reply to vmulligan [2010-10-13 15:33:01 +0000 UTC]

Oh yes, but that was just a test fold. Once I understood how to collapse the model I switched to a larger piece of paper.

Lexar- In reply to tskorigami [2010-10-11 03:05:34 +0000 UTC]

I like your designs. My only suggestion is to use paper more suited for origami, such as those that have sizing so that it is durable and wet-finish-able. And also make folds with more precision, that will greatly increase the overall appearance of your models.

tskorigami In reply to Lexar- [2010-10-11 04:29:58 +0000 UTC]

thanks for the input!
the paper is very suitable for origami(look at this gallery:www.flickr.com/photos/origamiru/and this gallery:www.flickr.com/photos/origami-artist-galen/) and it is TRACING PAPER. well, thin, about 42 gsm. I want TWENTY gsm to be more precise...........
But I, unfortunately, can't find thin enough paper
thanks for the input, again!
