You may cut yourself away from me, but I'll still remain a part of you--for a rose cannot live without its roots and thorns.

So, this is Lia! She's a fairly new OC of mine that you may recognize from a previous #inktober doodle (here: Breaking Point ). She finally gets an official portrait now, and I'm so stoked to share her up close with you! I actually came up with this character from a dream, where I only saw her appearance and knew nothing else about her. It was so fun waking up and taking that image of a random character and getting to build a whole world and story for them :>

Lia is personified / living rose, and is always tied to her other half, Terran who serves as the living roots / plant stem (see him here: Built On A Rose ). At least, she's supposed to be connected to him ... But thorns hurt sometimes, and there's too many days that a simple, innocent rose blossom just wants to live on its own apart from its roots. So being the little rebel she is, Lia repeatedly runs away from Terran and usually goes off to explore the human world while Terran is left to try and track her down and keep her from dying without him :') And no matter how far Lia runs and tries to blend in with the humans, the poor girl is ever-reminded of what she really is and who she's a part of with the spiked roots attached to her ... for every rose has its thorns.

Also, in other news: I bought my first set of Washi tape! I've always been a little skeptical of it, despite how many cool drawings I'd see utilizing it, but I finally took the plunge and tried it out! And WOW ok this stuff is so funn :'D Now I understand the craze, haha. Cutting out some of the smaller details was pretty nuts though.
But hey, no blood was shed, no drawings got destroyed, and I think I came out with a new fave inktober piece, so i'm counting this as win! xD
