Trying my hand at dramatic lighting, feat. the OC from my last painting--little miss Lyla :>Oof, I really needa learn how to paint children ... I'm too used to doing young adult faces
Got a long way to go, but I still really enjoyed this experimental painting!

The lighting looks great, always wanted to play with lighting on characters since it can change the mood of their expressions! X )
I'd like to comment myself about the child features, but I'm sure you're tired of hearing it. I will say, that I like that you made the lips and chin softer, those are defiantly details I love artist do with kids since it's realistic.

I agree, I'm still learning how to do lighting myself, but the times I was able to mess with it, it proved to be fun.

I do gotta admit, I couldn't tell that was supposed to be a child until you flat-out told me
But you are practicing dramatic lighting in this, not children's faces right? And the lighting looks fantastic to me.

Okay, I don't know HOW to draw them, but if you will notice,
children have shorter lengths, and more circular/round heads,
whereas adults are more longer in the face???? 
Like, you might look a bit odd "observing" the kiddos IRL and such,
but uuuum... it's just something that I've noticed. 
even if only a little bit!
And it's beautiful, BTW... kinda reminds me of waking up from a loooong
and restless night... and having to keep on trucking along... or being on
guard duty/night watch for others in your adventuring party, while they
sleep! So, in other words, it's pretty freaking awesome sauce!

Well you got the lighting right for sure, she's looking great! The shadows around her upper face really make her violet eyes stand out
