Sometimes people wonder why I haven't yet learned not to walk alone in the dark where
creatures lurk, waiting, and how I'm still scared of, still believe in malevolent monsters that lie
underneath my bed and I'm
Stupid, stupid, no commonsense. Head so far up in the clouds that I cry rain.
And what good is one so helpless? to take and give what I can but not what is wanted
approach with innocent intentions, leave, incompetent

is it strange that I stumble on new, awkward legs, skid to a stop to stare at slugs as they sssslowly ooze across the pavement, or let the sound of storms soothe me, feel my breathe. die. with music's birth or see shapes in clouds or sob when a little bird stops singing or...

Shhh. Shush myself. and if others do because they think my cloudy vision instead leaves me completely blind, well, they are wrong...I see stares, scrutiny, skepticism as if the words were spelled with sparklers in the sky, burning brighter than any breaths

Occasionally I'm asked why I'm no fun.
Dull in a different way, they say.
Sleepy, always. Staring not with wonder but absence.
I am slow not because I fall but because my bones creak and catch, as gears grinding to a halt.
Sad enough to be beyond sympathy.
Expected to contribute but wrung dry of all worth.
Lost potential and no love potential.
Biding time, dying. You are too afraid to let go so
You don't beckon death upon your doorstep, yet.
Trust no one and nothing because you think you're strong and got it all figured out by now.
But you're scared.
And self-aware enough to know this.
Sit in glowing artificial light,
Foresake life, because what's left?
You're not sure and you don't care, or so you convince yourself.

Say eternal souls switch,
You got your similar ones, but they take turns,
fulfill certain stages
but what if one....stayed? Attached? Had no one else left so it learned to love you,
in a way, maybe it doesn't look like love but sometimes we see it in protection.
In that case, I dunno..... whether I'm
reeeeally really young or
maybe
just
old.
