Acrylics on canvas.The difference in style between the flower and insect is done on purpose. The realistic looking insect is reaching for definitely not a realistic flower. The flower middle has texture to it as well, it has a volume to it (though you cannot see on the picture). Feels spiky.

This is ultimately my favorite!!!
I love the shine on the insect and the fading yet 'still there' petals. It creates a sense that the insect is travelling other dimensions in its mind and when you said that "reaching for definitely not a realistic flower" it's as if the insect has believed its own fabricated reality but what it does not know is that the center of its attention (its goal to reach...) is quite the other story. the insect does not know (what for example what we do not know..."though you cannot see on the picture") and still moves toward the pollen anyhow just as I would if this painting was in front of me and you made it clear that it feels spiky..I would still try to touch it to see how it feels like out of curiosity but unlike the insect, it seems it has believed every part of this illusion it has created and still goes nearer and nearer. It then hits me what if the spikes of the pollen harm the insect...or does more damage than what we know...or pops the bubble of mirage it is in and goes back to the sole place it was running away from??
~ All these questions are asked by this portrayal of a masterpiece and with a very simple description lead me here dear Li-Soro...
