I have never become a Mormon or a Jehovah Witness, as (1) I can not accept their claims, teachings & rules, and thus could not be a real member, and (2)My behavior thus would result in EXCOMMUNICATION, with all the trimmings.

the lips could be aiding the young look, as well- they look very pouty, and not in a womanly way, more like a young child's lips, especially with the exaggerated lip curves the edges of the mouth. beneath the lips could be lighter

My only point about the piece that I noticed even from the thumbnail, is that her cheeks seem a bit pudgy. Not in a bad way jus in a younger/childish sort of way. I could see this being a 11 to even 15 year old, but maybe not 18. (I'm subscribed to the same contest, I've jus' been draggin' my ass in making something for it @_@ )
Outside of that it's full of awesome! I especially love the blending of the skin and the eyes, I'm still trying to get that right for the facial area. (Are the eyes/skin on seperate layers?)

Hey! Thanks so much for the crit! She definitely is on the younger side... and I think you hit the nail right on the head! I couldn't put my finger on it, but I think you're right about the cheeks. I think the hair on the (viewer's) right side of her face is adding to the pudginess because it makes the cheek look rounder than it is. Perhaps I should remove that little part?
I actually painted this on only 3 layers: BG, Skin, Hair.

I actually really like the hair, maybe the shading around the mouth? I'm really bad at shading that area so I couldnt' suggest what to change lol. I just notice overall she has a round face (which isn't necessarily bad) but it's also short, like, her mouth is low on her face, maybe that contributes to it as well?
And just 3 layers? Man, I have layers for my layers usually

Yea... I used to use a layer for every separate thing... but I've found that I get a more cohesive whole when I use less layers. I actually enjoy painting everything on one layer

Very nice! I love the softness of her features and the look of her eyes. It seems to show a strength of character in my opinion. The highlights with the blue light really add nicely to the overall image as well
