Description THIS HAS BEEN SITTING IN MY HALF-FINISHED PILE FOR LIKE SIX MONTHS AND ITS FINALLY FINISHED AHHHHH

I have this headcanon that, to alleviate boredom at an awful ball one night during the Sneer, Vetinari and Margolotta got hold of a bottle of Scumble and had a challenge where they had to spike each others' drinks without the other noticing. They were both successful, and woke up the next morning in bed, fully dressed in each others' clothes, with the only clue to what happened being this photo that they found in Margolotta's bag. Surviving an evening of Scumble-related activities also explains how he was able to cope with so much drink and barely react in Unseen Academcials

(Vetinari's just there like OH GODS SO DRUNK and Margolotta's noticed the cameraman and is on the verge of realising that its going to reduce her to a pile of ashes...)

OK HERE GOT IT! This piece. How did you get the background on here. Because whenever I try filling a layer with background, it tends to seep through the figures themselves, instead of being totally blocked out by them, so you end up with this "ghost" effect, which is entirely unwanted.

WHAT IS YOUR SECRET??

Alllriiiight, the problem sounds like your colour layers aren't completely opaque. Whatcha wanna do is create a layer between your lineart and your background and fill it in opaque white - so you can just see your coloured lineart. Then rub out around it so you can see the background again

OK, I shall get onto it. my layers are all set on 'multiply' and are at 100% opacity - if that info helps. This inbetweener layer, it's supposed to have the figures silhouetted in white, with the rest of the area showing the white and grey checkerboard of blank space, yes? And must it also be on these settings?

Ahaaa, that's why! Multiply makes things semi-transparent so yeah you'll need the white layer. I'm guessing you used it because it means you can colour on top of your lineart whilst handily still being able to see the lines? I use it too You want to create a silhouette of everything that you don't want the background to "seep" through. You'll want it to be on...normal? Whatever the default setting is. Everything not covered by this white silhouette will show the background through.

I must try that out. So let me get this straight: you say you make a layer which has white silhouettes of your drawings, ensuring the rest remains 'checkerboarded', and that layer must be set to normal. So this is beneath the peeps you've drawn. But when I try that, the white shows on top - because it's on normal.

The best I've gotten thus far is merging all my layers at the end, making the resulting layer normal, and adding a layer of background beneath it. That works, but I'm not fond of having to merge my poor layers first.

OMG, this is AWESOME!!

OH GODS SO DRUNK is a perfect way of describing him here. He’s got that goofy, faintly uncertain grin that says he *does* still sort of know what’s going on, but there is already the hint of the β€˜oh dear gads, who am I, what’s going on here?’ uncertainty visible in his eyes.

If Margolotta knows what the flash will do to her, she looks far too drunk and happy to care!

Also, I know that you’ve adopted Hiddles as your young!Vetinari, but there is something unmistakably Charles Danceish about the eyes all the same. In case you’re wondering: yes, this is a good thing.

(I want a drabble about the reason why they were wearing each other's clothes. Was it Reverse Strip Thud? Was is something more sinister?)

It was originally just going to be a nice photo of them at a ball together, but then Havvie's expression turned into that "goofy, faintly uncertain grin" and he looked so beautifully drunk that I added the wine glasses, undid his collar and cravat, and started coming up with headcanons

(I'll get working on it, see what I can come up with )

Dear gods this is brilliant!!! as is the story behind it (which needs to be a fic btw), if you dont draw them dressed in each others clothes then i will!

anyway, Margo's expression is perfectly amazing and the background with all the people is superb. did you filter a photo or do it yourself? GAH i love this so much im gong to stop writing and stare at it some more.

Thanks I drew it and started colouring it forever ago, but gave up because Havvie's jaw was stupid and my tablet broke and today I was like RIGHT I AM FINISHING THIS RIGHT NOW NO EXCUSES
