Just finished reading "The Dark Knight Returns". Boy, and here I thought "The Dark Knight" was a pretty dark movie, this comic is as dark as it gets. It's the best comic book I've ever read.

Lil summary about it if you havent read it. Spoilers, if you plan on reading it and dont want it spoiled, then dont read. XD

It takes place in the future where all the super heroes are either retired or dead. Bruce Wayne is in his fifties and threw away the Batsuit 10 years before; now he's just an alcoholic. But things take a turn for the worst in Gotham City and he's forced to return as the Dark Knight. Except, it's not the same as before. He's too old. Yet in all the pain and struggle, he manages to kick ass. And now society doesnt accept him as they did in the past. The younger generation didnt even think Batman actually existed in the past and regarded him as just a myth.

Eventually, through the struggle against the Police and old villains such as Two-Face and The Joker, the Sons of Batman emerge; a group of people who stand up what Batman believes in, except they do it in a more violent way, so Batman plans to train them. His plan, however, is stopped as the US Government asks Superman (who's now become nothing more than a puppet of the government) to arrest Batman and so they have on final life or death battle. Unlike Batman, Superman is actually still as young as ever. But Batman, with some help, manages to lay the smack down on Superman and beats him to a pulp.

"I want you to remember, my hand at your throat. I want you to remember, the man who beat you..." Batman says just before he has a heart attack. Bruce Wayne is dead. All his fortune was given away. Alfred bombs the Bat cave and dies shortly after as well. The Dark Knight Falls.

Such an awesome story. Batman has a much darker side to him than I had known before and he is more badass. And I now see where Nolan got the idea for the tank Batmobile. ><
