Personality:
Foka: Hes seems to act more like a overprotective older brother than a younger one. Bristly, snippy, and harsh--it seems he prefers to keep people at a distance especially away from his sister, and he doesn't trust easily. He's strong, physically, and isn't against acting the tough guy. However much he comes off as impulsive, hot-tempered, outspoken and usually downright crude--he's all bark and practically no bite.

Foka may be stronger than his sister, but he isn't very fond of fighting if he doesn't have to. Honestly, he doesn't like the pain, fatigue, or fear that comes with it. He hides behind the excuse that fighting is frustrating, takes too much time, and just frankly isn't worth the trouble. But in all reality, he's almost too sensitive and even a bit cowardly on the inside--more so when he's not around others. Many things scare him easily even childish things like the dark. Not only that, but he can also be a bit of a crybaby over even the slightest of things although he usually does well to hide it until he thinks no one else can see.

This may make him seem weak, but Foka has the strong willpower to put on a brave front and act tougher than he really is to an extremely believable extent, at times. Mostly, this is a farce so that he can act as a great protector of his older sister.

That said, he has a sister complex, completely adoring Tonka to an almost ridiculous level not that she seems to mind any. She is the only one he openly allows to touch him, and he is more than comfortable enough to cling to her when he feels the need. He doesn't keep much from her or rather, he can't and he seems relieved that she can see through his acts. Foka sees her as his safe place, and he wants nothing more than to be the one to keep her safe as well. In a way, she's what gives him the inner strength to push past his insecurities and fears in order to be brave.

Tonka: She is the bite to Foka's bark not that many would think so. Tonka is friendly, cheerful, and even somewhat naive in demeanor. In contrast to her brother, she's very affectionate and caring in general. She's carefree, enthusiastic and playful--finding the fun in almost anything, even light teasing. Although, she spaces out and meanders about often, sometimes seeming too aloof and even sweet for her own good.

And yet, she's actually the more vicious of the two siblings. Ruthless. What she lacks in physical strength, she makes up for with pure speed and unrelenting ferocity. She's almost completely fearless, unlike her brother. Not only that, but she actually seems to enjoy pain--at least whilst in the heat of battle. Attacks, pain, bleeding--these things only heighten her will to keep fighting and even come across as fun factors of it. However, she hardly thinks first and easily can tire out and find herself weakened and without a plan.

Tonka dislikes turning so brutal during battle and prefers not to if she can. She's worried that others would come to fear her if they saw how vicious she can be, that they'd think all her niceties were just an act. But they're not; she's genuinely kind and caring. Imagine his increased chagrin when not only one but two children were born. Twins--Foka and Tonka--and despite the grandfather's wishes, their mother kept both of them. Their father, far from being a deadbeat, continued to live and work in the States--sending home money to help support his family until his wife was ready to return.

In the beginning, they grew up much like typical children. Although they were somewhat shunned by the other villagers (who sensed something was odd about the two), they didn't seem to noticed too much. They played and enjoyed constant coddling from their grandmother. Their mother was stern and sometimes hard on them, but generously showed her love for them very often, too. She merely seemed to want to prepare them for the hardness of the world. Foka was timid and easily shaken, crying at the drop of a hat and constantly clinging to his sister. Tonka was brazen and fearless, almost too energetic for her own good.

It was a few years later before their potential as weapons exposed itself. The family and fellow townsfolk (because word gets around) were initially disturbed and worried by this turn of events. Human with the ability to turn into weapons weren't common, and the two were seen as abominations. Their grandmother and mother continued to care for them like nothing was different--the best they could, at least. Their mother taught them the English language--their grandmother covering what she could of the Ukrainian and Russian tongues. Their grandfather, once getting over the idea that they were atrocities, merely fell into the mindset that they were weapons--nothing more.

Foka: He has physical strength and stamina on his side but often lacks the will to fight. Honestly, he'd rather retreat than fight--but if he must, then he tries to overpower or tire his opponent. He tends to think during fights--unlike his sister. He knows he's not very quick, and so he instead puts a lot of force behind each blow and works to be a precise as possible--making each strike count.

Tonka: She's all speed and brutality--not to mention, she has the added bonus of surprise on her side. Not many expect such a friendly little girl to be so harsh. She has a high threshold for pain. Unfortunately, she doesn't have her brother's stamina or brains--not thinking of strategies and easily tiring herself out. Not only that, but she's not as strong as her brother, either. So instead, she prefers to overwhelm her opponent with a flurry of harsh, quick, sharp attacks. She's also more go-with-the-flow whereas Foka follows tactic.

Other:
They do pretty much everything together. Eat, sleep, etc. When they don't or they are separated for too long, both tend to become fairly depressed and overly anxious--although it seems to hit Foka quicker than Tonka.
Foka actually fights his fears by forcing himself to be brave, whereas Tonka merely hides from hers and pretends they don't exist.
Despite their seemingly conflicting personalities, their wavelengths are almost effortlessly harmonized. It's so easy for them. They work together seamlessly most of the time, whether as weapons or not. However, because they're so close, it's likely difficult for them to do well with others. They don't know if or how well their souls are compatible with others as of yet.
Their tongues get confused sometimes, Russian or Ukrainian words finding their way into their sentences. This usually only happens when they are riled or aren't thinking straight, though.
They have some weird quirks, traditions, superstitions that they've held on to from their heritage; for example, they'll never shake hands, give keys, exchange things in the doorway for fear it will bring bad luck.
They totally have eyes and can see through their bangs just fine, they're just obscured from others by them.
They are in need of a partner/meister.
