Another concept for an original demon of my (upcoming) Doom novelization. To explain why the Barons are all... pink, my idea is that as Hellknights grow older and more powerful they begin to form a keratin shell covering their muscles, clear to show their raw flesh and hard enough to soak up more than a few bullets.

The Templars are three ancient Barons whose shells have weathered and discolored over the centuries to the point that they begin to look like granite or stone. Given an obsidian broadsword, they ritually skewer infiltrators to the Unholy Cathedral guarding the sacrificial crater at the top of Mt Erebus.

Hibernating in alcoves within the dark, crescent-shaped antechamber hall, they are easily mistaken for statues...
