2006PSP6 and a bit of Photoshop
This is my entry for the contest "Partners in Crime" by the club
The illustration is my part in a collaboration with who wrote a wonderful short story whose title is "the Black Thief" (hence you can see my title is very original...) and which you may read here: [link]
It's a very good story, IMHO: it's original, enthralling, it develops in a satisfying and unespected way, and has an interesting ending. Last but not least, I love the smart and lively prose.
In the illustration, Durdrin is sprinkling some "dispelling dust" upon Valaste, a hugely powerful magical artifact he and his twin brother Baltyrr are going to... go read the story!!
This is the second picture I colored only in computer graphic (starting from a pencil sketch, which you can see here: [link] ).
The original is a 8x11 file, but 465dpi... the weird resolution is due to the fact that I tried to find the highest resolution that my computer was able to endure! I'm posting a closeup too, for I did a huge work on the jewels and I'd like to show that.

Yep they are! I think I did their skin a bit too blue, I prefer an anthracite shade, but it's done and I'm too lazy to change that now

i like how it came out tho. sometimes when you do the skin too dark, it's hard to see the facial features.

sometimes i see pictures of drows with black skin, and all i can make out are the eyes lol

i was taking a closer look at this piece (ergo, full-view)...i love the spider-jewelry on Durdrin. also, i for some reason adore the detail in the bone pillar. it's a pillar...yet it still retains its boneliness.

Thank you so much, I'm glad you like it, I worked a lot on this pic and I'm still a beginner with computer graphic, so it takes a lot of effort to achieve results that probably experienced people do much more easily! ^^

i can't draw, at least not humanoid shapes...not on the paper and even less in digital, although i'd love to learn some techniques. but you my dear are very good, adn altough it was probably difficult for you in the beginning, your work is great and time will get you where you wanna be. you certainly have the talend and will to improve, and that's all tha you need
