Description These are some ideas for partners:

In order of appearance:

Toby: He's a Toad, of course. Although, Toby's spots are colored lime green, and his bandana is blue. He sports a vest over... another vest, because he's hipster like that. Toby has a sort of tough-guy attitude: unlike most Toads, he's a bit brash and brazen, but still does his research on the different species of the Mushroom Kingdom. He functions as the tattler, but Toby also has a mean head charge attack, and a mushroom bowling attack. Joins in Toad Town.

Snifolio: I tried to go for a Romeo and Juliet vibe for his character. Snifolio is one of the Capuliets, one of two feuding families in fair Veronaville. Not only does Snifolio have the standard mouth cannon that all Snifits have, he also has a sword for melee attacking. In the overworld, Snifolio can sever ropes and cut down hanging paper with his sword. You also fight Snifolio when you first meet him: He mistakes Mario's "M" and his blue overalls for the marks of a Montageo, and attacks him. Joins in Veronaville.

Sadie: Sadie is technically a Portrait Ghost from Luigi's Mansion, where you meet her. When Mario gets locked in a room full of Boos and orange Ghosts, Sadie comes in and shooes them away, as she was often frightened easily in her mortal life and felt sorry for Mario. Sadie, when she died, was but eight years old, and had passed away due to cancer long ago, when they had no chemotherapy. She functions a little like Vivian, from Paper Mario TTYD: She can pull Mario into the floor to defend him, or can help him pass through certain walls (like the Boo Mushroom allowed Mario to do in Super Mario Galaxy). Joins in Luigi's Mansion.

Theodore: A Torpedo Ted with goggles. The reason Torpedo Teds never open their eyes is because their vision is blurred underwater. They depend on their heat-seeking nature to attack. Theodore can get whoever he wants to. Theodore joins Mario on Yoshi Beach as thanks for when Mario yanked a beached Theodore out of thick sand with the help of his other three partners. Theodore's main function is water travel. No more getting chomped by that fish, as long as Theodore's around! Theodore also allows Mario to explore the underwater, if the water is a deeper blue than usual (a reference to the Pokemon series). Joins in Yoshi Beach.

Prince Whomp: Mario's learned his lesson. Thank the bricks, or they'll come and flatten you. The Whomp King, having been depressed, confides to Mario that his constant rage is fueled by the populace never thanking bricks for paving their roads, building their houses, and their castles. Mario tells the King that he appreciates bricks, as they bring a roof over his head, and the King's mood seems to raise substantially. Then the King confides to Mario his second problem: Prince Whomp has been kidnapped by the Clefts, whom the Whomps are at war with. Mario goes and saves Prince Whomp from the kidnapping Clefts, and Prince Whomp joins Mario as he defeats the Cleft army and their leader, Golem Cleft. Prince Whomp can slam down large switches and can destroy big gray blocks that Mario can't with his hammer. In battle, he functions like regular Whomps: he walks up to the enemy and squashes them. A special move of his is the Whomp Stomp: He jumps into the air and does a body slam that creates shockwaves that attack all foes, but also head toward Mario, requiring him to jump over them. Joins in the Cleft Fortress

Nezz: Sometimes, switches come out of reach, and this is where Nezz comes in. Nezz is a Parabuzzy who is too small for Mario to ride on, but is a perfect size for slipping under blocks and whacking switches that Mario can't get to. However, his name is Nezz for a reason: He carries several of the abilities of Ness, from Earthbound. His attacks are references to Ness's Super Smash Bros. lineup, including a flame attack, a lightning attack, a force field that can restore Mario's, Toby's or Nezz's HP, and an exploding flash. For a large sum of FP, Nezz can also summon a barrage of comets, a reference to Ness's Final Smash. Nezz's backstory? When Nezz was really young, his father taught him an alien secret: amazing abilities that allowed anyone to control energy. His father, wanting the best for his boy, sent him to Digitown for school. However, Nezz had been branded a freak ever since he accidentally set a toilet ablaze. Mario is one of the few people who accept him as he is. Nezz is also a bit of a techie. Joins in Digitown.

Roving Officer in Blue: R.O.B. is the chief of the Digitown Law Enforcement. He has to deal with electronic as well as physical crimes. Because of this, R.O.B. is useful for activating and deactivating mechanical and electrical equipment found throughout. When Mario explains the current situation to R.O.B., the robot understands the situation as the crime of the century, and agrees to help Mario defeat the villain, or as the robot puts it: >APPREHEND THE HEINOUS CRIMINAL. R.O.B., in battle, has an eye beam, as well as a taserlike attack that he fires from his arms. The tasers can also be used physically when R.O.B. punches. R.O.B. is also able to launch Gyromites with three different functions: one is a physical Gyromite that rams the opponent, another is a glowing blue Gyromite that fires an electrified net at the opponent, and the third is a TRON-style Gyromite that acts like a boomerang, smacking each enemy twice. Joins in Digitown.

Amelia: A Beezo who dreams to fly over the Mushlantic Ocean by herself. Amelia has made a crash-landing in Sarasaland, and had gone to Daisy's castle for help. Daisy gladly agreed, and she and Toadette tried to nurse the poor Beezo back to health. However, Amelia's right wing was bent beyond belief, and Mario had to find an item called the Wing Cast from the Sarasaland Infirmary. Mario wraps Amelia's wing in the cast, and guess what happens next? Tatanga attacks! Tatanga attempts to kidnap Daisy, but Daisy and Mario manage to beat him down (this is also the only battle in which two player characters are out at the same time). Puttering and sputtering away in the Pagosu, Tatanga swears revenge. Mario asks if there is a faster way for Amelia to heal, and Daisy ponders for a bit, before suggesting that Mario find an Ultra Shroom Shake. (Hey, they work for him, don't they?) It works, and Amelia decides to join Mario's party, knowing that Mario will travel all over the Mushroom World and she will be able to tag along. Amelia's function is flight, much like Parakarry. In Super Mario Bros. 2, there were several levels in which you had to ride Beezos to advance. The way Mario rides on Amelia is a reference to that. Joins in Sarasaland.

Edgar: A steampunk timed Bob-Omb. Edgar has a bit of a temper, especially when concerning his mother, Mama Bombina. Nevertheless, Edgar knows Mario is a newcomer to Victopolis, a steampunk-themed city, and offers to be his guide. But soon, Edgar is assaulted by the town bullies: a trio of Craws known as the Cuckoo Clockers. Mario beats down the Cuckoo Clockers, gaining Edgar's respect and therefore causing him to join his party. Edgar is the bomb of the party, and because Victopolis is an old town, there are many spots where demolition is completely possible. Weak walls, holes in the ground, even a cracked pipeline... Edgar can blow 'em all sky high. A special attack of his is a rage-filled explosion. Mario whispers to Edgar that one of the enemies had said something nasty about his mother, and Edgar goes over to the entire group and lets loose a titanic explosion. Joins in Victopolis

Polari: Remember the black Luma from Super Mario Galaxy? The elderly one at Rosalina's side? Polari returns as a partner of Mario's, allowing Mario to perform the Star Spin from his adventures in space. The function of the Star Spin is spinning screws, knocking away enemies, and pretty much everything that the Star Spin did in Super Mario Galaxy. Rosalina and Polari have been discussing the possible fate of the universe, and have decided that Mario was fated to save the universe from the coming danger. Polari dedicates his help to Mario, to aid in achieving that. Joins in the Comet Observatory.

So left to right: Snifolio, Edgar, Theodore, Nezz, Polari, Mario, Amelia, Prince Whomp, Sadie, Toby, and R.O.B.

Thanks. Now when have you ever seen a R.O.B., a Whomp, a portrait ghost, and a Beezo all in one game?
