Well, it's about 5 layers for coloring in total. 2 for cell shading, 1 for gradient shading (airbrush), highlight, and gradient highlight (airbrush)

Thank you for sharing your layers info, I can learn a lot from it. I like how your color was neatly added with beautiful result, also your color palette choice is amazing, really vibrant :3
For my latest ones, I used around that number layers, 1 is base, 2 for soft shading and soft highlight (pen and water brush tool), 1 for lighting, 1 for ambient occlusion, 1 extra to create transparency effect between hair tip and face. (and I use paint tool sai).
