these are some character sketches i drew for Virtual Fairground , for the development of an Alice in Wonderland MMO. i came up with it myself but the process of making it was guided by an art director from the company (Duncan Sandt). these sketches led to a final piece which is here - [link]drawn with a mechanical pencil and colors added digitally with photoshop.

I like your vision better than what they went with. I'd have played if well.... I had money, but what you saw looks like something I'd be interested in. You're on the site. You could try to out do them. I mean. There are people here for that kind of work.

The mad hatter wasn't really invented by Lewis Carol, in the old days people put mercury on top hats to make them shiny, and as a result many people actually did go mad.

I imagine it was tempting to make him look like Tim Burton's Mad Hatter, and I'm glad to see you made him your own (or Duncan Sandt's, however you prefer to distribute the credit.).

Woah, he looks creepy! For some reason, he reminds me of characters like Clayton in Disney's Tarzan, or the bad guy in The Rescuers Down Under.

i was only approached to do some freelance concept art, so no, i was not signed to do the artwork of the game itself. it's also not something had time for when they were developing it.
and i think it's about to be released :]
