I agree, especially as vampires aren't the only fanged creatures. Like in Japanese culture they have cat-girls and they usually have a fang or two.

I hate when I draw my character, and someone says they like my vampire darwing! mines a demon too, so annoying

I do have vampires.....
I also have a feline character, a canine character and someone with bad front teeth.
There's a bloody difference! *agrees with the stamp*
(and yes, the vampire bandwagon is annoying like hell. I don't want my characters to be compared to Twilight all the time. Put my Duke and Duchess in the sun? They die. Bye-bye.)

Haha, I know what ya mean about the vampires, which is why my main characters are demons--though one of them is a vampire, and then there are the humans, too. And the demons do have fangs.

I see what you mean. The term "demon" you can really take the way you want it, right? You're free to create your characters amongst your own rules!

While I got nothing against vampires (and werewolves), I must admit I'm tired of seeing them. Like you said, demons in fiction need love too. And let's not forget trolls, orcs, ogres, dragons and more. And why doesn't anyone make new races anymore?

So true. I believe all it needs is somebody to come along and reinvent them with out completely changing them. A new take on them maybe. Like J.K Rowling with wizards. I also think the settings in stories with trolls, orcs, ogres, dragons, etc alienates the majority of people. They're always almost set in a sort of middle ages setting and (Even though I'm not) I think most people are put off by it. I think the success of most fantasy novels involve a more modern setting. Harry Potter, Being Human, True Blood, House of Night series, they all have modern settings and I believe this makes people warm to the story more.
It is a shame nobody invents new races anymore. it seems everybody has run out of idea to make a truly great creature.
The only reason I found out how cool demons are is I was looking threw myths and legends for a english language essay and stumbled upon some cool ones.

You know, that's a great idea! Reinventing and modernizing races is a great way to show them in a new light. I have thought of reinventing witches, but they are not like Rowling's. For one thing, witches are an all female race. I might think of doing more too.
