Y'know, I avoid fanfiction for reasons like this.
However, in the event that the fic is well-written, and they killed the character not because they wanted the character to die, but because it fit that's character's, well, character, for lack of a better term, to ide in that fashion in that circumstance, then I would have to disagree with you.

I've seen this a couple of times. I worry about my own characters being hated and having their own kill art as well, because a lot of noobs aren't too fond of me simply because of my opinions. It does seem rude, AND they probably didn't have permission either

What if they die in the original, too? What if they're meant to die and the fic is basically their death scene from a different point of view?

To answer your first question, if the creator had their characters die, then that is their decision. Not some people who just hate the character and wants them dead. To the answer of your second question, it depends. I do not like any kind of death fics. But if it is written from a character's different point of view that talks about what happened to that character that DID happen in the story, then it is ok. That is my opinion.
