Thanks! It's unnecessary to try and show the Unnamable, but what the heck..

A Randolph Carter adventure AFTER he lost the key to deep dreaming, and could no longer go to Ulthar, Celephais, and fayer places in sleep.

According to S T Joshi this story takes place after "The Statement of Randolph Carter", but before the Silver Key stories, "Through the Gates of the Silver Key" being his last appearence and the last known fate of Carter.

According to Brian Lumley, Carter did reach the Dreamworld where he now lives in a Cornish estate. He had a mansion built to Cornish specifications and employs butlers and staff dressed in British livery. He was homesick and so made the estate as British as he could. He assists Titus Crow in "Clock of Dreams" . No explanation of how he rid himself of Zkauba's persona.

Maybe that story, too, is rejectable. I was near saturation point with all these oft-contradictory Mythos tales by authors who had no grasp of Lovecraft's vision.

I guess my Un is truly unnameable. It's form is such that the human brain refuses to accept it and blanks it out. You see nothing in front of you except what SHOULD be there, but it attacks you just as hard ! One of the monsters Casper left behind when he freed most of those caged in Dr.Ottermoel's zoo in Domdaniel (my take on Hogwarts).

Too dangerous !

A friend of mine made a film adaptation of "The Unnameable" circa 1993, under the title "Arkham Cemetery" -- and I've just checked and it's not on YouTube.  Never mind.

No monstrosity visible, I'm afraid.  Just headstones, trees, and cumulus clouds changing color with weird sound effects.

No effects would have been good as the above, though!

Oh, that's cool! You're not really supposed to show the Unnamable, I guess -just letting the audience make up their own horrors in the head. I actually planned to make my own video adaptation in the early 2000's, but never got around to it, and that's just as well. There seems to be a number of homemade versions out there.

Having read the story in question a few times (and seen the forgettable film adaptation once) I would say you did well. I do suspect Lovecraft would have praised it very much.

Thanks Nothing anyone would draw could sum up Lovecraft's intentions, but it's worth a try.

Great depiction from a great story. The Unnameable is intimidating to draw (at least for me) but i think you hit it out of the park.

I just go with what leaps into my head, without over-analyzing. Which means I usually forget some details, but it's the easiest way of tackling subjects for me

Oh fuck.

Lovecraft would hate you, because you have succeeded in accurately depicting the quintessence of all his "indescribable" horrors...
