I remember his stuff in Heavy Metal back in the 70's. It's too bad the Dune movie never got made, with all the talent Jodorowski had working on that, it would have been interesting at the very least.

I think there's a documentary on Netflix about it. (Yup...it's called Jodorowski's Dune.)Β I had to satisfy myself with the movie...I looked for a copy of The Incal on Amazon...ack! Sell your firstborn for a copy.
Β The project went on to have some major influences in later films.Β
Moebius himself had a few movie projects under his belt besides his work on Jodorowski's dune. Personally though, I'll always remember his work for the hats.Β

Quick color? Well I would not call it so, most of his works were colored pre computer era, so it captures everything very well.

Thamastablasta In reply to Loopydave [2013-02-01 20:31:39 +0000 UTC]

Yeah! Great artist,he was a real prodigy for his age and could draw pictures like a machine, Giger's words. He was always searching for a father figure and while young he visited mexico and consumed some mushrooms, the haluzinations lead to his great ideas of exploring the subconcious. This was also why he painted so many deserts as backgrounds. At later age he became part of some kind of sect, inspiration for all the symbols and figures. Of curse he left the sect and got married. But that's another story.

He truly revolutionised the comic book concept. Great artist indeed.

It's a shame that one of my favorite artists of all time had to die before I even really knew who he was. I've always loved his artwork, to the point that I can say it inspires my own drawing style, but I never knew he was the artist of these incredible, imaginative images. May he rest in peace and may his artwork be remembered and appreciated for centuries to come...

I was never very passionate with comic-books or stories, though when I was a teenager I got one Comic-book from my brother in my hands (without him knowing, of course).
It was the German edition of a "Heavy Metal" - Comic and there was one story in it that dragged me in, like nothing (like the whole book was quite some experience for me in that age as it showed me that there's a bit more outside than just "Donald Duck" . For a long time after I couldn't remember the artist but I never forgot those visions he created.
And only now - after I saw some pictures accompanying the reports of his death - I know, that the author was Moebius and the story was "The long tomorrow".
So I would say he was one of those few artists I could name that had some influence into what I am doing ...
Even if I didn't know (and even if no-one can see it )
