I can't be the only one who was saddened by how much Jareth had let himself go for the Hobbit.Pencil sketch for a bit of a break from madly painting away on the computer.

The explanation is that Jareth after he realized that Sarah would never love him, he gone into depression, and become bald and fat.
And the love he felt for Sarah turn into lard and ended up in his chin.

Or maybe...after his defeat at the end of Labyrinth, Jareth began to suffer from depression. He never got out of bed and he spent all day eating fried food and takeaway. Eventually he became morbidly obese and his own goblins kicked him out of the castle. Jareth travelled to Middle Earth and established a new goblin kingdom under the misty mountains.ο»Ώ

alternate explanation. His love forΒ Sarah caused him to go mad which caused hisΒ magicallyΒ created human form toΒ collapseΒ and his true form as a goblin to be revealed. He obviously was not always bloated, he went that way as a secondary symptom of his madness.

Not so weird I think.... the goblin king came across as quirky and a bit misunderstood, rather than an outright bad guy.
