Elbow in the Butt

She panted heavily, backside trembling with delight.
She was so close, but so far.
Her prize was just before her eyes, wide open, lips parted, so close.
Just out of reach.
She drooled slightly.

She involuntarily whimpered as her prize swiped her across the face.
Painful, but nothing she couldn’t handle.
Just a sniff, just a whiff of her prize would satisfy her.
But no.
She got an elbow in the butt.

“Yeast, stop jumping all over me and leave the cat alone. She doesn’t like you.”

Reluctantly, she sits in her master’s lap, deciding her prize could wait.
Being petted and cuddled is much more interesting anyway.
