I'm glad you did this pic. I always thought they were human because of the human Jedi that was a Tusken Raider. After Googling it, I saw that he was just adopted into their tribe. Not only that, but I found some actual history in a wiki file. I would never have known.

If you do see one unmasked, you should run. Seeing a tusken's face, even accidentally, is cause for a blood duel.

I hope someday George Lucas decides to get into explaining more about his many alien species, they are all so diverse and realistic, it would be an awesome set of comics/books.

It totally would. There are so many races to indulge in! You remember a series of Star Trek comics called Alien Spotlight? They featured one shot stories surrounding Gorn, Klingon, Tribble, Andorian, Romulans and others. They could have continued that for hundreds of issues. I wanted them to do Sheliak, Excalbians and Tholians!
SW could do the same thing. Maybe like SW Tales focusing on alien races.

I did hear something that I choose to disagree with regarding the jawas. It's said that the glowing things under their hoods aren't eyes but some sort of jewels. I prefer that they're eyes though.

The design for his face was noted from a Star Wars comic, you can google and find it. I don't think they've ever shown either in canon. There is a cute Jawa webcomic someone had, type in Jawa Force or Jawa Team and it should come up. They have little fuxxy blank faces with big yellow eyes, no jewel! It's just his take on it though.

That I can't recall. I think they said that they're just really ugly under their hoods and the swarm of flies about their faces was like an extra appendage.
