Description
Ahaha sorry people of Legacy that I wasn't active at all, but let's hope a new character does the trick
[ Name ]
Elijah Anderson
He'll tell you to call him Eli
[ Age ]
72
[ Race / Species ]
Poltergeist
[ Ability / Power(s) ]
- Turn ethereal
- Turn invisible
- Walk through walls and move through other solid objects
- Levitate
- Talking mentally (Or: Speaking to someone without anyone possibly hearing it (into their minds). Only possible when he's no more than 3 feet away from the target)
- Make temperatures drop a couple degrees
- A weak form of telekenesis (can only lift things as big as books, and only a couple at a time)
- Make ghostly whispering and screeching sounds. Even seemingly with multiple voices.
- Move objects around while invisible/ethereal (nothing too heavy, pretty underdeveloped)
- Invade people's dreams and manipulate them to his will, creating nightmares (very underdeveloped. He's in search of a test dummy I'm sorry Erik... He saw the page in your journal....)
- Shift into a more scary ghostly form (He'll need to take off the blindfold for that, so that's not going to happen... Though it is damn terrifying. He may however, switch into that form unintentionally when you anger him too much) It'd look something like this: lunaelucem.deviantart.com/art/…
- And finally there's his ability to see death in someone's future. When he looks someone directly into the eyes he sees the nearest case of death in their future, either the person's own or that of someone close to them. He only sees this however if he makes direct eyecontact. This is why he blindfolds himself, to prevent having to see things like that day in day out. He can see fine through the blindfold, it does limit his vision a bit but he's gotten used to that.
His abilities can't really harm anyone too badly in a physical way, he can only scare people. Most of his skills are pretty much underdeveloped as well, seeing as though he is rather young for poltergeist terms.
[ Height / weight ]
Height: 5'11"
Weight: Varies. He can range from weighing pretty much nothing (when he's ethereal) to about 145 lbs (when he's tangible)
Yes he's pretty light ;w;
[ Gender ]
Male
[ Personality ]
Eli is an incredible pest. He gets kicks out of scaring the living daylight out of people and will hardly ever feel bad about doing that. He doesn't care about it really if most people will end up disliking him because of this. He honestly could care less about what people think about him, and because of this ignorance hardly cares about who someone else is. He might be a little more cautious around teachers, but students he'll treat all the same, no matter their background or race. But when he's not toying with people's fear he gets bored very easily, causing him to randomly roam through the hallways in search of anoter victim. He isn't exactly a nice person either. Though he may drop a heavily camouflaged compliment every once in eternity he doesn't really seem to be out to make friends really... But aside from lacking a lot of his conscience he doesn't seem to be out to physically hurt anyone, nor will he do anything that could lead to serious physical harm. He does have his boundaries and that's where he places them, he'll stay put with messing with people's minds instead and prank them. He's very cunning and will try to get know his regular victims more so he can play in on their fears more effectively, be that by eavesdropping or nozing around in their possessions.
[ History ]
Eli only knows his name because he woke up on his grave, and when he turned around saw his own tombstone. On it were his name, date of birth, and date of death. But when he looked at the grave and then at his ghostly self, he knew he wasn't whoever was lying down there anymore. He was dead, he was a ghost. That is why he choose not the remember his former human self's date of birth, but date of death, and decided to treat it as his date of birth now. He doesn't have any idea in the world when he woke up on that grave, or where it was. It could have been a couple months ago, or even years, decades. All he knows that following his date of death he would be 72 as a ghost now.
Neither does he really remember anything about his time as a human. Like mentioned he wouldn't even have known his own name if it wasn't for him waking up and reading his head stone. And it wasn't as if it would have mattered much for him until this day, because he mostly roamed aournd from place to place finding random homes to haunt for a while. These were mostly human homes, and though their reactions always stayed the same he found himself grow continously more bored over time. When he found the academy he decided he would apply and see how things would be in here.
The date of his death as a human was November 7th 1941. In the middle of the second world war. Even if he doesn't remember it, this is where he died. He served the British army for two years, before he got killed by a fragmentation grenade from the friendly side. It was thrown without a warning and a couple of people got killed by it, thus also including Eli, who got the shrapnel stuck in his eyes and gut. He died slowly and painfully because off blood loss... About a couple of days later he woke up on his grave, which some soldiers from the British forces had dug for him and the others that had died there. Though it is probably traceble he doesn't really want to know how and where he died, and who he used to be when alive, he isn't very keen on the fact that he's dead already after all. He may joke about it himself from time to time, but in all honesty, he doesn't like the idea that he's dead. And even less that he was alive at some point in time.
But why did he come back as a poltegeist? To answer that we may have to go back a little more as well. When Elijah was alive he lived in a family of 5, with his parents, his little brother and sister. His sister, Mabel, was only one year younger than him, she was independent and loved to let everyone know she could handle things by herself quite well. At the age of 16 (one year before the war), she left home to never return. Eli's little brother, Jacob, was 6 years younger than him. He was quite dependent of his older brother, seeing as though his sister never really wanted anything to do with her family, and their parents were very stern. Nothing ever really seemed good enough for those parents, they always seemed to drive their children into excelling in everything, highly possibly why Mabel felt the uncontrollable urge to distance herself from them, but causing her to get disconnected from her brothers as well. The parents argued constantly with Mabel which terrorized Jacob. He would always seek out his older brother's comfort, because he was the only stable factor of calmth in his life. Eli was very calm and silent at the time, though he hated his parents for neglecting Jacob and looking for fights with Mabel instead. In the year 1939, a year after Mabel ran away from home, Eli was 18 and Jacob was 12. The war started then. Since Eli wasn't working at the time he was requested to join the army, and so he did. Though he felt bad for leaving his brother behind he knew he would be fine. When Mabel left they finally seemed to have more attention for their youngest son. Even if it was to a minumum and mostly to correct his mistakes. His parents made him only grow bitter like Mabel had grown to be, only she got there sooner than he did. The bitterness stuck with him when he was there in the army, to his surprise. He thought that being away from his parents would erase the feeling. But it didn't. And the feeling only grew worse the more he learned and saw in the war, it only grew worse when he learned that his brother contracted leukemia. It only grew worse when he learned through a simple letter from his parents that his brother had died over the course of one year after contracting the disease. "We're sorry to say your brother has died. We know you were close to him." And that was all they said about that. Eli was angry at his parents for not taking better care of their son, he was angry at Mabel for leaving her siblings behind, he was furious with himself for leaving Jacob alone, and with the day he grew more and more bitter and angry at the world. Until the day he died. The bitterness was the feeling he died with, that strong presence caused his soul to become restless and rise back up again as a poltergeist. He still feels it sometimes, just some kind of random bitter and furious feeling at the world. But because he doesn't remember his life as a human, he doesn't know why he feels that way.

[ Random Facts ]
~ His eyes have a black sclera and red iris. His pupils are hardly visible due to the fact they are only so much darker than his iris in color.
~ His hands and fingers are rather thin and his nails are sharp, pretty long and black in color. You'll only see them that much more often than his eyes though, the sleeves of his cloak being long.
~ He doesn't sleep. He doesn't have to ovo
~ He can't eat either. Not only doesn't he have to, but if you try to force feed him something it will just fall down to the ground again as if he became ethereal. It will annoy him greatly.
~ He'll often start randomly floating around mid-conversation, like simply bringing up his legs and sitting on the air.
~ He can't be 'killed' by normal means like bullets, poisons, knives, or anything alike. But his soul can be destroyed by holy weapons, or he can be excorcised and forced into after life. You can also try to find the right thing to appease his spirit, but that will prove very hard...
~ He still has the scars on his upper body from when he died, but he doesn't know this himself. He never changed his shirt in 72 years But on the other hand, he doesn't sweat or gain all these weird and horrible human smells, he'd more smell something like... Faint incense.
~ He suffers a terrible case of tunnel vision. When he has his eyes set on someone, whether that is to go and scare them or talking to them, he will hardly notice anything else really...
~ Being a poltergeist, he lives off of the negative emotions of the living, like anger, sadness, envy, etc. etc. Another, slower way for him to 'die', would be leaving him anywhere he can't drain energy from anyone. Like a secluded place where no people come, or in a place full of constantly optimistic and happy people. The latter sounds very terrifying actually... Not just for Eli...
~ Cameras don't like him. And so do electronics in general. TV's will go static if he comes too close, telephones won't register his voice and only noise will be heard on the receiving side. If you try to catch him on camera or film his image will be blurred out and he'll look like the thing you would recognize as a ghost on the picture.
