Inspired by 's new Monsieur Andre stock photos and the song Prima Donna from, of course, The Phantom of the Opera!Monsieur Andre is such a fanboy for Carlotta, and here he is doing his best to assuage her temper while she plays hard-to-get. The painting, from a photo of one I took at the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, is meant to reflect this exchange - except it's gender reversed.

I was listening to that song and oddly enough, I spotted this just as they sang "Leading ladies are a trial!" Oh, Carlotta, the world would be so boring without you. I just love this picture!
