Anyone who owns a lovebird is aware of this little quirk I'm sure! They like to tear off pieces of paper in little strips and then stick them in their tailfeathers. Mine hasn't done it in quite some time though - he's getting a little old to have the nesting behavior I hope!This is another little piece that'll be at AC (actually two pieces, but they'll be matted as a duo.) Whew, just 8 or so more to go!

My parakeet did that. I had a teacher complain once when I turned in a partially shredded homework assignment she got mad at me when I told her my bird ate my homework.

Our zebra finches were far more efficient at paper shredding than our love bird was, although they are 10,000x more messy lol

I have a little peach face. This is adorable, but I've actually never seen her do it. She spends her time biting holes in my t-shirts and trying to sneak up on top of my head.

I own a conure, she does the same thing! Actually it's kind of funny to tell my teachers my bird ate my homework when there's bite marks all over it. XD

OMG, yes. Of course it wasn't so funny when my cockatiel touched my sister-in-law's beloved copy of Pride and Prejudice. She didn't tear it up, I stopped the darn crazy bird just in time. (Almost gave me a heart attack though.) There's a pic of my bird in my gallery somewhere.
Wish I could get her to stop tearing up paper in general (she's ruined stuff that way), but tis the nature of the beast. I think she is tearing up the paper in her cage as I write this.
...Yup, she is. If only she could just stick to that and not touch anything made of paper when she's out of the cage.
Oh yeah. There was also this one time our friends we're helping clean our house (long story that had to do with our house being flooded and stuff), and someone reached on top of our fridge and taking out all these bits of paper said "I think you have mice." And I was like "Oh no, that's just our bird." *LOL*

My lovebird Mimo used to do that, and she was my first and only lovebird so when I saw her doing it I was like "I'm sorry you don't like paper in your cage but that's all we have!!!" Then I found out all lovebirds do it and I felt a little stupid lol. This lovebird adorably fave-worthy, btw.

So cute! I never had a love bird, but I had a cocateil(sp) I didn't have a problem with it tearing up my papers though just the corners.

Cockatiels tend to gnaw more aimlessly - I think lovebirds are hardwired to shred paper this way because of how they make their nests. :>
