That's a good question 0_o. My only explanation would be that Pixel (the game's creator) thought it would be boring having a desert without sky and sun.

Actually, I thought you were referring to the GAME rather than my actual picture... so my bad for that. Seems I've totally forgot whether there was an actual sky or not in Sand Zone :/ Time to replay the game, methinks

I just don't like it much... 'anime' after all is but a word for animation, after all, and that there's hardly a 'style' you can call anime. I'd rather prefer a general 'cartoon' category for artwork. Oh meh.
