another one of my projects in the VA3D course in highschool. it was really cool, because a well known haida carver came into our class to talk to us about the culture and the art. id say this is my first attemp at wood carvings (i dont remember if ive done it before oO and i think it looks pretty decent, if i may say so myself. i tried to make the background look like water, but i think the real deal looks better than the photos . i almost lost a finger when i was doing this, because i had never used the set of tools before (they looked like mad scientist surgery tools..) and because of the angle i chose to place the fish, i wasnt carving with the grain of the wood.. whatever.. i finished it . oh, and i stained it to make it darker and then sanded some parts to make it kind of.. more interesting?
