polotics aside, i just love the gleefully evil clown, and the skill with which this image was painted.

thanks mate.
The fav is appreciated.
A friend if mine suggested I should draw fangs on the clown.. but I think he is really evil as he is there..
Kinda always surprised me why McD chose such a nasty clown as their mascot..

This is absolutely fantastic: the art is amazing and the commentary is attention-grabbing; hunger is present everywhere. But in well-off countries, it's so downplayed because all of the pros of the country's benefits. When people think of hunger, they so often visualise third-world countries and not the homeless shelter downtown.

With regards to the art itself: I really love it. It reminds me of the animations from Pink Floyd's The Wall.

Praise the fat ones that eat and eat and eat but don't watch what they eat. What is sad is that there are really people like that. This reminds me of when I was working at McDonalds. This family ordered around 30 dollars worth of food for just 5 people. They grabbed the food and then ordered 5 mcflurries to go with it. Disgusting. Maybe its just me, but I can't stand eating THAT much fast food. HungersnΓΈd is definitely a great name for this title.

yeah.. that is plain disgusting..
though this is not only targeted people with disgusting food habits.. I see this as a kind of symbol on our western civilisation. Unsatiable appetite for things that don't really mean anything to us. Things don't make us happy.. neither does abundance of food. A certain portion of it does of course.. and yeah.. fast food culture.. I don't really get it.. it is not particulary cheap, it is not nutrituos and it doesn't really taste good..

sorry for what I am gonna say but,

maybe if their government's would stop spending all the aid money on new limos and cushy lives, their people wouldn't have to live in huts and starve to death. Think about it for a second, it's not america's fault we have a proper government system that keeps the citizens cushy. We eat because we have the opportunity. these are great pictures, i just don't agree with their messages. you're missing the big picture. I do hate mcdonalds for their shitty food though, so a+ on pointing that out. I don't know man, just look at the big picture for a second.

don't excuse for what you are saying.. that is fair enough.. have you seen the other picture I've made called "welfare..." (previous submission). Well.. these 2 are stringed together and there is far more to it than so..

Reason I used McDonald is, it is the prime symbol of globalisation. We in the west consume and yes.. other places they starve.. but tell me one thing.. are we really happy consuming.. the little boy dying of famine is obviously not happy. But we?? There are differences between EU and US but we are both based upon consumer culture.

I know it from myself.. from the world around me. We devourer.. not only consume.. and we do so because we can. Because we are taught to. You need this and that and bla bla bla.. whatever our brains get stuffed with each day, that we are going to spend our money on this and that to feel happy.. but look around you.. people aren't happy. The boy stuffing his mouth with cheeseburgers are for me a symbol on our world. On our so-called democracy we are franchising. And hey.. it works. Way better than communism, real democracy, national socialism or whatever isme.. this is the thing. Perfect for the greed of our nations.

The whole idea with these 2 pieces is.. we have a responsibility. To our world.. we have welfare, and we use it like shit.. when we have it, we become greedy.. that is why the fat kid here, clutches his hand around the burger. Not tightening it.. just putting a wall of fat up in front of it to show of.. this is mine. And yes.. he might try on a pre-emptive strike if he has a feeling you would like to take his burger away from him. Look at him..

your standard little pig. Bred to devourer and breed..

don't give me the greed speech, we pour so much damn money into aid for unfit nations and you know where it goes ? Nowhere, down a fucking rat hole because the leaders of the country, whom receive this money, spend it on military and stuffing their own fat asses. I can promise you, if we stopped giving out all the welfare to the countries directly and went over there and took over, giving them aid directly, things would change. It's not their fault their governmental structures cannot figure out what we have. And it sure as hell isn't my fault or any american's fault that they are starving. You know what, I have looked around, if you do the same you'll realize that everytime something bad happens ( i.e tsunami etc. ) who do they turn to for help ? And then after they've had their share of our aid they tell us to go to hell. Sorry but not a dime of my money will go to any ungrateful son of a bitch who pisses it away on weaponry, unless that son of a bitch is my president. You think the united nations is doing a god damn thing about anything ? or any of these other people... the EU, what a joke, you think americans are evil, we aren't the ones pushing for a one world government. Their time has come and gone, their old governmental structure's time has passed. Communism, socialism... it just doesn't work. Not everyone can be equal or there is no worth, and without worth there is no progression. Because to strive to become like the ones ahead you must work and gain worth. Look at Russia for example, look what communism did to them, they still suffer the wounds inflicted on them from their regime. Look at North Korea, they're still communist, and they are asking us for aid, so people like you send them money and Kim takes that money and stuff the nuclear warheads with it, so when he decides it's time to push the button our money will be falling from the sky. Think if China does decide to strike peaceful protests are gonna stop them ? No, you god damn hippies will be the first wave of deaths... Look at Canada, sure they got free everything up there, but goodluck getting any of it. Free healthcare doesn't do shit, because everyone wants to go for every little scratch, so what does that leave you with ? Doctors getting paid crap and overworked... Were as here we have doctors making a killing and doing proper work on people. In France the Free Healthcare is failing so badly that pay clinics are opening and taking over the market again. There isn't supposed to be perfect equality, because there has to be someone ahead, or there is no progress.

i just got a thorn in my side about this sorta thing. Hate to take it up with you, and yes they are both wonderful works of art, don't get me wrong. I just do not believe in the message, and felt I needed to say something, it's been far to long since I have had a good political headbutting.

Democracy is the only governmental structure that works. Plain and simple, it's the only form where if you don't like what you are going through you have the chance and choice to change. Any other government structure, you are forced down, or forced up. There is no change, or room for change there.

Malach In reply to JohnnyMalkavius [2005-06-25 13:52:13 +0000 UTC]

First of.. I don't look upon either EU and even less the US as democratic governments.
Let me start out with an example from my own country. Maersk Logistics. Danish founded corp run by A.P. MΓΈller. Propably the biggest play in the field of logistics. Huge supporter of the neocon way of thinking. When the US decides to invade Iraq Denmark hops along.. all jolly. Why? Logistic contracts and a tongue up in Bush's crack.

This is not a democratic move. Far from.
Yes.. I am living in a so-called democratic country. I have a chance to decide which asshole I'm giving my vote, but there are things far above that. Far above democracy.

Democracy is the term we get shoved down our throat. Don't get me wrong.. I like democracy.. but we aren't really having it.

The same goes for the US.. you might put your vote on Kerry or you might put your vote on Bush.. what I see is a big fucking charade. No real difference. Again.. you get to choose between which asshole you would prefer.. Like we do here in the EU, you get told over and over that you are living in a democracy.. and yes we do not get shot for saying our opinion.. because it doesn't really matter. That is the reason why we can speak freely.

Nomatter which of the assholes you'll be voting for, it will still be the same corps behind the whole thing. Weapon industri, heavy industry, logistics, media etc.. they are the ones in power. Not the presidents. You don't vote for which director Carlyle Group is having do you?

.. and.. talking about democracy? This is one for you because you are after all living in the US.. patriot act.. please give me a sensible explanation of what this one have to do with democracy?

Our systems are franchises.. that was the thing I was trying to tell you in my previous answer.. I'm not pointing fingers and saying this kind of government are more evil than this kind of government. Every system, every idea has a flaw, and that is humanity.. both of us know that. As well as humanity is able to create the most marvellous things; as well do we have a capability to do the most outrightous things.

This has nothing to do with our race or variations of culture.. it is down to what we are.

I'm no hippie. Far from. I have realized the importance of conflict. I wouldn't like to live in a world of constant peace.
Why? Because we aren't suited for it.
We need conflict, because the only freedom we can really have is our inner right to fight for it. Freedom is utopia. We will always be slaves to one thing or another. Wether that be a god, a system, an ideology..

I have been a soldier myself. It is in my nature. It is a thing that has been in my families bloodline for generations. Fighting comes natural, but I don't feel like blinding my eyes. The example I mentioned before with Maersk is one of the reasons why I don't want to be a soldier.

Right now the US and different european countries have soldiers in various places fighting for corporations.. not for valour or freedom.. but for freaking contracts.. and that is making me sick. I like living in a semi-liberalized world, but things are out of hands.. and the word "democracy" is only stuffed into our throats to make us swallow.

You are absolutely right that often when we give money for projects in various countries that it often ends in corruption.. but there is actually a way to better the things.. but it is a long time solution. Bombing for peace is like fucking for virginity. LO/FTF in Denmark is running a project in the Philipines together with something called PSlink, a worker union for healtcare workers. Idea is to educate the poor parts of the population and help them start workers unions, so it becomes harder for the government to being corrupt. This is actually a way to stop terrorism.. bombing is like trying to kill a hydra by chopping its heads of..

hope you see my point.
right now world leaders are solving problems in a way, because they have an interest in the problems being there.
Each freaking day we are filled with bullshit.. and lots of it.
That is where I think we have a responsibility. That is to think. Not taking everything our leaders tell us for granted.
