I'm curious... Are you punching clear through the plastic to hold the leather on?

Just finished mine! Don't have the guts to use power tools so I cheated and used my cordless Dremel. I love that stupid little thing.^^ Thank you for your help! I used one of your goggles as inspiration. They're still a work in progress, once I figure out what they might be missing but for now, they're done.

Amazing work. All of it. If I had some spare scratch I'd want to get a pair.

Your steam punk junk is neato.
I've got a question about the plastic on the goggles. The part that is actually pressed against the face: Is it hard plastic? Or is it rubber?

Plastic, though I've started making some padded ones.

I have another question: They're originally welding goggles, right? So, they come with very dark lenses. For yours to be practical in areas beside welding, don't the lenses need to be a lot clearer? I'm assuming the lenses on your final-product goggles are clear (not intended for welding). I guess I have 2 questions: Are yours clear? And, do you receive them clear, or do you have to order clear lenses on the side?

Thanks a million for putting up with my nagging!

They come with clear cover lenses. You can order lighter lenses, though those take some hunting. There are many people out there who cut there own out of Plexiglas or acrylic. The caps screw off so it makes lenses easily exchangeable. They can even clamp in a device.
