I had a much darker illustration in mind when I sketched this out, so I don't really understand why it ended up this way, with an elf/unicorn boy and a bunch of luna moths under the moonTools: watercolor and white gouache.

I really don't get how you can manage to make a scene obviously taking place in a dark place full of shadows look so bright and clear! When I try the smae it it turns out all gloomy and depressive

Thank you so much, I'm happy that you like it and sorry it has taken me so long to reply Given that I don't think any of your paintings are gloomy, I think it's important to pay attention to the colors you choose, don't use black in your mixes or at least use it sparingly. Another thing that I think it's vital is to decide where you want to place the light sources before you start to paint Btw if you need more specific answers about how I paint feel free to ask oh and if you have Instagram, from time to time I upload small videos of my process there

Yeah, I have issues with colors - that's why I usually stick to monochrome/bichrome pieces. I've experimented over the holidays with something more colorful and the result is frankly garish

I have the opposite "problem" I tend to use too many I'm trying to incorporate more neutrals to experiment, btw I really don't think you have issues with colors, you're too hard on yourself
