Description That's why they call them the 'ainted Hills'.

What the heck is with those damn emoticons. You can't even use an uppercase p.

I've photographed this place dozens of times. I've never seen a better light on the hills or a more complimentary sky than on this spring evening. The yellow flowers in the foreground only bloom on very wet years, and had been absent for at least the past five. Good timing and some exposure magic allowed me to render this scene the way I did. This is a blended image because I needed extreme DOF to get so close to the flowers, even at f/22. I took two images at f/14 (for foreground and background) which allowed me to keep everything in focus, and avoid the gusting winds moving the flowers around.

It's a beautiful photo of a beautiful place...

To not have the emoticon problem, just add the odd space between the ' and the P ... just something that irked me enough to figure out one time...

Amazing conditions and a real one off capture. Exposure blending...I need to learn how to master this....

MarcAdamus In reply to kwerfeldein [2008-12-08 16:20:41 +0000 UTC]

Like I mentioned in the description, two images were blended to limit movement in the flowers and achieve the best depth of field. I also used a graduated ND filter to control the sky exposure. I use blends frequently in my work, but never in an unnatural way - always from the same place and as close together as possible.
