Once I sat blank before you,
Barely even existing enough to call it waiting,
and you gave relief to my need I didn't know I wanted for.
And you carved into my very being a glory
to be looked upon by every creature.
I was bestowed eyes and emotion,
by your deft hands and mind,
and you lit within me a flame.

But after time has passed,
and I sag
deflate
lose face
will you still look upon me
with your eyes that saw what I lacked and gave it,
and love me even as my body is beset by vermin?
