What, were you expecting him to be all sunshines and roses? It was already pretty heavily foreshadowed that there was a beef between Stan and his brother, AND that the Author was growing paranoid and bitter.

Why is everyone so shocked that the Author isn't a perfect person. Hell, if he did turn out to be some perfect, wise old man, I'd be disappointed. They've actually made him a character. People are just mad because he's mad a Stan. Well he has a reason to be bitter towards Stan. Sure, he's being too harsh and really should've gotten over it, but hey, we all know he's gonna come around at some point. He's not a terrible person. He still has affection that he shows towards Mabel and Dipper. Speaking of which, no one seems to be mad at Dipper for getting annoyed at Mabel. If anything, I know a lot of people who want Dipper to for once just tell Mabel off. But if he did, wouldn't that make him like Ford? And every story requires conflict, and it's not like this conflict is without reason.

I've said why to multiple people of the few people who disagree that this char is a jerk on here but nevertheless I'll explain to you. Even if you're being kinda annoying about it... But I'm not going to explain why the author is a shit character right now as I'm not in the mood.

Well, I never said he wasn't a jerk. But so is Stan. Only difference is, Stan has spent the last years living as his brother, making money off of it, giving him a criminal record, and is the one who (accidently) pushed him into the portal in the first place. Still, Stan did all that to save his brother, but he shouldn't have been too surprised to see his brother even more bitter and paranoid than before.
So I know why the Author is a jerk. I know he really should've forgiven Stan by now. But I also can see why he hasn't.
What I don't get is... why does this bother so many people?

Because Ford is half of the reason the backstory and explanation for everything now is such shit. That's why. I could go on but yeah.

It was a tale of TWO Stans! Not one! Two! TWO sides to the story! 50-50, dude.
Half the reason things go wrong for Dipper and Mabel is well... either Dipper or Mabel! Same with the Stans! They both messed up. They both were wrong in their own way. Both sympathetic in their own way.
The show has already shown that characters like Dipper and Ford, while brilliant and brave, can get a bit over-obsessed with their research.
Also with characters like Mabel and Stanley, while loyal and normally well-meaning, can be insensitive and can also cause their brothers' plans to go wrong.
Only thing is... Dipper and Mabel are still kids and it's easier to forgive one another. None has done any real damage to the other.
I don't get why people are so shocked. Alex dropped so many hints towards this. So much foreshadowing. Stuff I didn't even notice at first. But if people just take time to THINK, they'd know that the Author is just as complex and dimensional of a character as the rest of the Pines family.

Also he hardly dropped any real hints to be honest. The only reason he added this is because of dumbass fans that wanted to see their shitty fan theory come true. Which is another reason people don't like Ford! Because be himself is a shitty fan service!

Dude, this has been planned from the very start. Ford is NOT fanservice. If anything, he kinda is a "fuck that" to fans that expected him and Stan to be all chummy and what not. So fanservice? You clearly have no clue what fanservice is.
There were already clues of Ford back in firggin' season one. So even before the reveal that Ford was the author, it was already canon that Stan had a twin brother. And those hints that you barely count as hints are for those who just pay attention. Gravity Falls has ALWAYS been about finding the little clues somewhere, even when the characters don't. May it be the background or right in your face. It's a little thing called subtlety. I mean just look at Blendin Blanden, we would have never seen him coming if we weren't paying attention. Hell, same with Bill. For those who don't pay close attention, they wouldn't have expected him. Keep in mind that the entirety of a season is already written BEFORE the first episode of said season is released. Especially when it comes to animated series, because there is hardly time/money for "reshoots" mid-season.

Well I can see why some people dislike Ford (loyalty to Stan, a bit of a jerk, whatever), and even though some of those reasons are exactly what makes Ford a good character, you're reason is because of "fan service" that makes no sense. All this time i thought you actually had some reason that would actually be a better reason than him not being friendly to Stan. But your reason makes way less sense. How is he fan service? Especially when his personality (despite being foreshadowed) is not at all what people expected.
