The white highlights on the black background work so well. The contrast really makes everything stand out. The balrog looks great, just like himself, and you captured the movement of his whip nicely. I can just hear Gandalf's voice when I look at this...great job!

VERY beautiful detail using only highlights to accent them. i like how you picked up on everything using only white. very nice effect.

Thanks - not me though I was just copying Christian Rivers' drawing. If you want to see really good LOTR artwork then get the Art Of series. I have The Art of the Fellowship of the Ring and it's inspiring stuff - it's worth the money just for Alan Lee's and John Howe's concept sketches alone.

I was thinking of buying those, but I've never had enough pocket money on me... *must start saving more*

I'll keep that in mind next time I go to the bookstore! I think it would also be a good thing for me to have for my costume designing too... are there many of ngila's costume sketches in there?
